#1 Post by shfawaz » Sat Jan 07, 2006 11:05 pm

I managed to get some close up shots of the new Thinkpads at CES 2006 and posted them for all to see.

Pix include X60s and T60 and one of a Z60M.

Enjoy!

Nice! Thanks for those.

Interesting the 'exhaust vent', or whatever it's called, is on the opposite side of where the hard drive is placed in the X60, whereas on the X40 it's right in front of it. Dunno if that's relevant, just noticed it.

20V Power??

#3 Post by ejp001 » Mon Jan 09, 2006 4:37 pm

Looks like these new machines are using 20V power supplies...every thinkpad I have ever user going back to 1997 has had 16V power supplies. I guess all my old power bricks will go the way of the dodo bird with these new machines.. :(

Yes, but by going to a 20V PSU now, they'll be able to handle future power needs, and avoid switching to another new model as much as possible. The 16V PSUs have survived this long - IIRC, they debuted in 1992 with the ThinkPad 700. In fact, they're still around a little longer on the R series (IIRC, the G series has something different), until the R60 comes out.
