Howdy all,
I've read in several places that the x60 will be equiped with evdo. However, nothing I've read says when.
Has anyone seen anything with a date on it?
Thanks,
Bill

The one I ordered had built in EVDO.
Estimated ship date is 3/17, but it was removed from their website the week after I ordered it.

DOH!
Do you have the specs and price handy? Was it ever in the tabbook?
Thanks Nick.

Hi.
I ordered the 1709-97U
I think it was on the main website for ~2300, but am not exactly sure. I purchased through EPP, and cannot disclose prices due to forum posting rules.
The specs of the x60 I ordered were:
T2300 processor (1.6GHz)
1GB RAM, 100GB 5400rpm HDD, DVDRW (with dock).
A/B/G WiFi, Bluetooth, Verizon, Fingerprint reader.
It also came with the 8 cell battery.
Overall, it seemed to be the best spec out there. The only way to really improve this was with a faster processor and faster hard drive.
I placed my order on 2/10 and by 2/13 the laptop had disapeared from the Lenovo website.
I have a ship date of 3/17. I'll let you know if it ships.

they have daily program on it.
activate it during your travel, it's 15/ day, seems no contract needed.

Look in the tabook for the Verizon models. I think one is the 1702-63U or 1704-63U (same machine, different program) that looks like the one I'm getting.

Too bad the built in EVDO is by Verizon, not Sprint. Verizon's EVDO coverage is poor compared to Sprint. I just use my Bluetooth EVDO Sprint phone to tether in for internet access.
you could switch cards

I talked to a thinkpad specialist at lenovo he said you can switch the cards and have cingular or sprint, but switching cards will void your warrenty.

Question is: where to find a card for those carriers?
without a card...you go nowhere..

Lenovo has already announced that they will have Cingular UMTS/HSDPA "in the near future", so once it's available as an FRU you should be able to order it and swap out the card.

I have the EVDO and it works great.
The charge is $80 per month, but if you have a Verizon phone then the bill is $60 per month.
When I added an additional memory card to the laptop, I couldn't help but note that there is a SIM card slot down there, which would be necessary when using a ATT or TMobile service. (Also for EU carriers, etc.)
