Will the X60 be able to drive the Dell 2405FP monitor?

Also does the dock have a DVI out?

Are you sure the X60 can't drive the Dell 2405? While the X60 doesn't support DVI, the video chip does have a RAMDAC of 250 mhz. My math says we need ~180 Mhz to drive a screen of 1920x1200 at 60hz, so the X60 should be able to do that in analog. I have a colleague who wants to do this, so if I'm wrong, better to know now while the monitor order can be cancelled.

Thanks!

Not working for me

I just tested an x60s on my Dell 2405FP and the max res it offered was 16x12.

1702-30U was the model.

How did it look at 1600 x 1200? Was it clear with the VGA only? Did you use any special cable?

12.1 inch screen with higher resolution is not a good idea. It is hard to see the screen clearly because everying on the screen is too small. i wish there is gona be 13.3 inch thinkpad, light and with higher resolution screen.

Why? Dell offers 1920x1200 on their 15.4" Widescreens...

And IBM offers up to 2028xsomething on their R50 range (1500 Dollars Tough  )

So thats a much Higher resolution to inch rating, than an one step higher resolution on an 12" pannel :)

They are talking about external displays, not the built-in LCD. The DELL 2405FPW is a 24" display. In any event, and answer to this whole issue is that the latest BIOS updates (1.09+) do offer 1920x1200.

That said, I do agree that 13.3 is one of the best blends of portability and usability. I'd personally like a 13.3" in 1280x960. I'm also pretty sure that panel has never been manufactured by anyone anywhere, and never will be. But many people could handle that res on a 12.1 and would choose to if they had the option.

I couldnt disagree more. If they released an SXGA+ X60/s, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I would love SXGA+ on a 12" screen, and maybe even UXGA (though thats hard to imagine whether it would be practical). Toshiba offers SXGA+ on some of their 12" tablets, and it looks remarkable.

Just to confirm, I'm running the 1.11 BIOS on my X60 and am driving a Dell 2407FPW 1920x1200 24" LCD with no issues using the standard Thinkpad video drivers (not the Intel "developer" drivers)

How is the performance? Does the screen feel more sluggish than when you work with the notebook's display?

Performance seems good... not too sluggish but keep in mind I'm running mainly browsing, terminal sessions, etc. Nothing like gaming.
