65W or 90W extra power adapter?

I bought an x60 with x6 ultrabase. Now I want to buy a spare power adapter. The x60 options in tabook.pdf said there are 2 power adpaters; 65w and 90w. Is there any case where I should buy the 90w?

The current 65w that came with my x60 works well with my system.

I got a x60s with X6 base.
And I bought an optional 90W adapter instead of 65W,because of much expandability (for T60).
Small price difference and form factor(not so big).

Thank you, NJ_IT. I never thought of this before. The 90w seems to be a better choice indeed.

Hate to bring up an age-old thread, but I have a question regarding the usage of the power adapters and since there's a thread already, I didn't want to create a duplicate thread....

Can the 90W power adapter intended for use in systems with a dedicated video card be safely used with X6x series systems without incurring any problems?

I have an extra 90W power adapter (was for a T61), which I'd like to use when my X61 is on the ultrabase and save the 65W power adapter for travel. Is this alright or am I running a risk to the battery/system by using a higher rated adapter?

Absolutely; in your case, it make no difference whatsoever -- absolutely none! -- which power adapter you use.

How about the other way round - using a 65W adapter to drive a T60?

Using a 65w adapter to power a T60 will result in slower battery charging.

If the USB ports are in full use there may not be enough power available if there are discrete graphics.

The 65w adapter may run warmer than the 90w adapter.

In general though there is not a problem.

I won't go as far as to recommend it - but I bought a cheap 90W adapter from ebay for use in the office with the Ultrabase and it has been fine.
