Possible to redock without restarting?

#1 Post by aceo07 » Mon Apr 10, 2006 1:15 pm

Is it possible to re-dock without restarting the laptop? If I undock, and then put the laptop back into the dock without restarting, it doesn't detect the USB connections. Also, the red stop led on the ultrabase doesn't come back on.

I've just noticed that the red stop led goes away after a while. It now has the green triangle led on (under the red stop led). The other green triangle led to the left is off. However, I'm still using usb, power, vga, and ethernet connections on the ultrabase. This is weird..

I haven't tried it while the laptop is on, but I redock every morning while the lap top is in Sleep mode. That works fine -- put it in the dock while it is in sleep, press the small button on the front edge of the dock, and it lights right up - - without opening the lid.

Not exactly what youre looking for, but functionally a lot faster than a reboot

I noticed the same behaviour with my x60s! Let me know when you find a solution.

I do this all the time, and have no problems.

I'll take my X60 out of the dock, go to a meeting, and re-dock when I get back.

Two things.
1. My screen is set to "do nothing" when I close it.
2. I close the screen when I dock it, so I can push down on the dock connector better, sometimes this is hard to do with the screen open.

My biggest issue.
If I put the laptop to sleep (going home at the end of the day) and then undock it, a loud alarm starts going off. I have to wake the laptop up to stop it.
It seems that I MUST un-dock before I put it to sleep.
Wierd.
