USB Hardrive Issue With X6 Ultrabase Please Help

#1 Post by isaacbunick » Sun Apr 16, 2006 3:02 pm

When i have a usb external drive attached to the ultrabase and I reboot the computer, the drive click 2 or 3 times on and off the screen flickers once or twice and then finally begins to boot.

However when i have the usb drive connected directly to the laptop and i reboot this doesnt happen?

What is going on here how do i stop this from happening?

I tried disabiling the usb device from the boot list but that didnt work

When did this start to happen?...
Well after i upgraded my internal drive to the 100GB and did a factory restore it began taking place....
Note: I have no issues with the operating system or computer, just this one thing. When i got hte computer orginally this never happened.

It seems that X6 USB port does not give enough power to the drive at startup.
Asingle USB port can give 500mA current at 5V.
Maybe the startup power consumption is more than 2.5w.

Or the X6 USB port cannot give 500mA, the Thinkpad's port can give.
