#1 Post by Thakur » Sun Apr 23, 2006 12:48 am

Hello all,

I am glad to say.. ! that this review.. is being typed on the Lovely keyboard of the X60 !

I have got it ... and as far as first impressions are concerned.... this is a keeper !

I plan to give a detailed review.. with lots of pics.. so come back later for more.. also please let me know.. if there is something very specific anyone wants to know !

Feel ==> The X60 feels amazingly sturdy, and rock solid. this is my first Thinkpad, and it beats all the last 7 laptops i had ! there is not twiching... no tweaks.. no noises.. no flexes.. its like a slab of hard metal in your hand... amazing... !

watch out this space.. for loads of pics.. and updates.. !

very soon... its still just 2hours with this machine... ! I have fully charged it.. lets see how long it lasts.. I have taken the extended battery.. would like to see the real life battery results.. !

Cheers...

Specs : X60 1.85 Ghz
1gb DDr ( it shows 987 Mzh in My Computer Properties )
Ultrabase with Multi Burner.
No finger Print Reader on this model.
No WWAN ( Non US model )

Be sure you either put a warning in the subject line for dialup users or just put links to those pictures lest they vanish...

Follow up AFter 24 Hours

#6 Post by Thakur » Wed Apr 26, 2006 6:24 am

So.. here goes..

Battery Life =============

After a full charge of the 8cell Extended Battery, i was able to use it for almost 7 hours +. Wi-fi was always on , and the screen brightness was 2 out of 7. With occasional disk activity. I am really happy about getting the Extended Battery ! its worth it. I played around with Power Management settings, and created my own custom settings, so i can balance CPU power.. with the Battery life.. ! all in all battery .. is just fine.. !

Screen =================

I was a bit scared.. that 12inch.. might just be too small a size to work on. I have used 13.3 with Fujitsu laptops before.. and was not sure if i made a smart choice... !

To my surprise.. the screen is really very nice.. ! its bright and clear.. and easy to work with... I tried the Magnify option.. with turns the resolution to 800X600.. and a bit more easy to read text !
I can use this when working with text.. or i will stick to the Native 1024X768 resolution.. anything more then that.. will make reading on screen impossible.. ! So overall the screen is just good enough.. i tried playing a DVD from the Ultrabase and it ran just fine, with Bundled DVD Players. I know its not intended to be Multimedia oriented.. but it does just fine..

KeyBoard ==============

My First ever thinkpad, and i had heard sooo much about the Keyboard.. that my expections were sooo high. I was not sure if it will live up to it... but ........... it just DID.

Its amazing how on such a small form Factor, you have a full keyboard.. as it is this one thing.. this keyboard.. that makes you forget that you are using an UltraPortable ! Two Thumbs up... However some keys ARE small, The Windows Key, the Right ALT, but i can live with it.

More updates with pic tommorow.. !

Cheers
