I was doing a clean install of windows and to make a long story short, my hard drive has disappeared (is not recognized) by my x60. I did not format the hidden partition for RNR. I have changed the hard drive setting in the BIOS from ACHPI to Compatability and back again. Any suggestions.

Trying to run the Hard disk drive diagnostics program from the BIOS, but it shows 'Test in progress 0% ****|------------- 100%'

for some more background on the situation see this thread.

Something about the SATA Bridge?

I believe there was a bios setting to change it support from bios to driver.

I'm well aware that many users of X60 & T60 are clueless about SATA controllers and HD Audio drivers. However, you'd better search in this forum befor asking, especially if you want to get a quick answer. You can find a lot of threads about Windows installation on X60 & T60.

The New Generation ThinkPad X60 & T60 use S-ATA HDD, not P-ATA one as in other ThinkPads. However, Windows CD does not have any SATA drivers such as Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver. So you should change the SATA-AHCI mode to SATA-Compatibility mode in the Config of BIOS in order to make your X60 recognize the SATA HDD.

After finishing Windows installation, you need to install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver and change the SATA-Compatibility mode to SATA-AHCI mode in the BIOS.

Here's the SATA Controller and instruction.

Maybe this HD Audio Driver will be helpful.
