Core duo undervolt

Hi!

I want to underclock my X60's T2400 core duo processor.
In the softwares (NHC, RMclock) the minimum voltage level is 0.95V.
I dont understand why I cannot lower the core voltage.
The default 1GHz speed is more than enough on battery, so I want to minimize the power consumption!

I cant believe that Lenovo set the minimum core voltage of the processor in the chipset (because the processor is soldered on the system board and not changeable).

Do you have any information about the VID settings of the Core Duo processors? Do you know any utility I can set the core voltage below 0.95V@1GHz?

Thanks in advance!

Generally you have to reduce the clock frequency at the same time you reduce the core voltage. I think by the time you are at the minimum settings, it's the screen that takes up most of the power anyways.

I have the ultralight screen. Does anyone know if I can actaully get it brighter on battery so its more like its looks on plug power? I mean theortically it should be possible to get more power to the screen, no? Thanks, JL

Go into the BIOS and change it to "Bright".

Thank you :)

And what about the undervolting? Is it true that there is no way to do it?

The x60s is set at its lowest allowed voltage for the 6x multiplier. For 7x-10x, you can lower the voltage from the preset voltages using a program like NHC.

I'm not sure about the x60. I thought I had read that the 6x multiplier on the x60 is above its minimum voltage, so you can "undervolt" the processor at its lowest voltage. The only way to know is for you to download NHC and try.

I got the latest version but there is no way to decrease the voltage. :x

Ideas?

There is a tab called "CPU Voltage." Select it, check the various multiplier boxes, and alter the voltage. Then, click set. I'm just not sure what else to tell you:

I believe that with Core 2 Duo (and probably Core 2 Solo) processors Intel has fixed the minimum voltage for the CPU at 0.95V -- relatively high, in my opinion. But since this is used by default for the lowest multiplier, there is no way to undervolt it further (for that multiplier).
