I don't know if it has been asked before, but what are my options?
I want to get a new 7200RPM drive, but I don't have the X6 ultrabase, i.e., I can't create the recovery CDs from my existing drive.
Thoughts?
Can I reinstall from an USB hard drive? (I think I can create the recovery stuff into a USB drive).
Install OS (XP) in new drive without X6 ultrabase

I did...
I did actually solve my problem.
As it happens, you can plug a USB DVD/CD burner, create the recovery CDs, and then reboot from the CDs.
However, I ran into this little problem: I have a T40p laptop, which I had upgraded to a 7200 rpm drive. I decided to re-use "this" 7200 rpm drive. So, I take all the drives out and get ready to plug everything back in, and I noticed that connectors are different. Ah...That's what the "S" in SATA stands for: serial.
I was bit ticked off for not reading everything before I started. So, I had to put everything back together (the way it was). But at some point, when the prices of the SATA drive come down, I will upgrade.
