Power management coming out of sleep

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this:

My standard power profile is "lowest cpu" on both battery and AC. I do this because I'm usually just web browsing. However, when I come out of sleep and run CPU-Z, it reports that the processor is going full-throttle. To fix this, I have to go into power manager, switch to a different power profile, and then switch BACK to the low power profile. It doesn't work to just apply the current profile. So as far as I can tell, the laptop goes back to a default processor power profile when coming out of sleep, and the power manager app doesn't reset it.

Anyone?

How are you accessing the power manager?

( ) Through start / all programs / thinkvantage/ power manager.

__or__

( ) Through control panel / performance & maint / power options.

My experience has been that it's best to set your preferences via start / programs / thinkvantage / power manager.
Once that is done then go in through control panel and be sure that there is nothing in power options that differs.

That took care of it for me, let me know how you do...:D

I'm double clicking on the power manager icon on the taskbar, which I imagine is the same as going though the start menu.

When you say "took care of it for me", are you saying that you've seen this effect as well? And that it is no longer happening?

I'd appreciate if someone could try the steps I've descibed and let me know if this is a general problem or something specific to me.

If you follow the steps I provided you with my prior post, you will see that there is a slight difference in the "PowerManager" as accessed from Programs/ThinkVantage/Power Manager as compared to the "Power Options". If the two are set differentlly the result is what you are experiencing. I had the same issue as you, and fixed it this way.

I verified that double clicking the icon on the taskbar is the same as going through start->thinkvantage

They both start a rundll32 process pointing to pwrmgr.ocx

Going through controlpanel/power options and clicking on the "Power Manager" tab and then clicking on "Launch Power Manager" also loads this ocx.

The Power Manager settings match those in the "Power Schemes" tab of the "Power Options Properties" control panel.

Unfortunately, my problem has not resolved as this is how I've always set the mode.

Just to clarify, the only time my power settings get reset is when coming out of sleep mode -- is this when you were noticing the problem as well?
