new x60 with T2300e processor

#1 Post by boof » Wed Jun 07, 2006 4:15 pm

Does anyone have an opinion on the new 1709A7U X60 with the T2300e processor? Lenovo just posted it on their X60 page. From what I understand, the 2300e processors are just as fast as the 2300 but are cheaper to manufacture and use less power.

I was looking at the X60s, but I don’t really need Bluetooth.

The model I have (see below) is a really nice computer. We have all the different X60 & X60s models in my office and with 1GB of memory they are all very close in terms of speed.

I purposely chose the slowest, low voltage processor because I wanted a cool running X model with long battery life. I could not be happier... :D

No T2300e is just a T2300 but cheaper (to buy not necessary to manufacture) and without VT for those who care.

No it purpose is to help when you are running virtual machines on a single real PC.

Say you run VMWare on your comp. VMWare has to virtualize a couple (not just a couple in fact) things (which is very ressource consuming). A part of this is managed in hardware by the CPU if it has VT.
Otherwise VMWare has to do it itself.

It's the kind of thing where if you need it, you'll already know what it is :)
