Bluetooth & heat

I'm wondering if anyone knows (beyond the standard complaints of people who just want to complain) if the bluetooth daughter card in the X60/X60s produces any noticable heat? If so, does switching it off, by either the fn+f5 key or the manual switch, stop the heat (for times youre not using it, ofcourse).

Thanks!

I could not see any difference when turning bluetooth off.
Disabling WLAN reduces APS temp ~7-10°C.

Well with WLAN off and bluetooth on does it feel too warm?

Just because when it was switched it off you didn't notice a temperature drop doesn't mean that the card stopped producing heat. It could mean that the switch doesn't do much except turn the LED off.

I admit, that's probably not the case, but simply switching it off doesnt 100% prove that the card doesn't make heat.

Sorry about that. I just figure that if I'm going to go out of my way to get a light, mobile, cool ultraportable (I plan on getting the x60s 1.5ghz model) that I should be completely sure, lol.

Thanks for the report! :)

By the way, what model is your X and what WLAN card do you have (Intel/Atheros)?

Mine is a X60s 1.66Ghz, atheros card.
I disabled both Wlan and BT using software when doing my tests.

The bluetooth daughter card is located on the left down corner. (at where the X60s mark located)
I can't feel any heat around that area even I turn the bluetooth on and loading with bt mouse, A2DP headset all day long.

Hope this info helps.

May I ask what A2DP headset you're using with your X60s?
Thanks, Dominique
