Did I mess up? I ordered a Travelstar 80Gb 7200rpm drive to replace the 5400rpm 60Gb drive that came with my x60s, only to discover that the drive in my x60s is a SATA drive, and of course, the Travelstar is ATA. No "male-female" mating going on here! I searched newegg to find a 7200rpm SATA drive for my ThinkPad but to no avail. Ooops.
any suggestions? thanks,

philip

Yup. ATA won't work. You need an SATA.

There are plenty other places selling hard drives lol

what about this one?

Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 100GB SATA (HTS721010G9SA00)
7200rpm • 8MB cache • 10ms

comes in other sizes aswell.

THanks. I figured out that the 7k100 comes in two interfaces, and I just ordered the ATA rather than the SATA. Oh well, we live and learn. My problem now is that if I order the SATA drive, I need an interface to clone the original drive to the new drive (I used Apricorn's before, but the interface is PATA.) That's more dollars...

again, thanks,
