Hard drive in X6 UltraBase

According to Lenovo, the X6 UltraBase "can also house a second ThinkPad hard drive (requires Hard Disk Drive installation kit)." What exactly is this "hard disk drive installation kit"? Does it come with the UltraBase? Is that something Lenovo sells? Does the UltraBase accommodate standard 2.5" hard drives?

It's a caddy the width of the slot in the base (which accomodates optical drives). Any thin (~9 mm) hard drive will snap into the caddy and work. At least this is true for my X4 ultrabase; I assume the X6 is the same.

Thank you, Allan. Do you know if the interface is ATA or SATA?

Sorry, I am virtually illiterate as far as specifications of HDDs and other parts. Could you please translate SATA for me into, say, model names and/or $US per GB of storage? Which HDD models would fit into the adapter?

Many thanks.

madana, go to newegg.com or any other store and look for notebook hard drives with Serial ATA interface. I just checked Newegg and the cheapest SATA notebook hard drive was a 60 GB Hitachi Travelstar for $75.

Thanks, Fred.

It is clear to me now that my backup ATA HDD won't fit in.
