Hi all, New to this but desprate for help
I have created the standard image for our machines as I have done countles times but cant get it to load on the spare X60! I've tried setting the bios on both machines the same, 've created the iamge using Ghost 7,8,9 and 10 and Aconis and another spurious partition software I found on the net (will fill in later) but all the second machine does afetr a secessful restore is sit with the cursor blinking in the top left hand corner!
Seriously need hlp with this.

2005 X60, Mem 1GB, 80GB HDD, WinkXP SP2.

I had a similar problem when I imaged from the original drive to a replacement drive.

I originally used my DOS-based Ghost to replicate the Windows XP partition. This didn't work on the new drive because it needed Lenovo's MBR from the original drive. I created a new disk image that included the boot sector information, deployed it to the new drive, and it booted properly. Sometimes you need to select a special option during image creation.

Run ghost with the -IB switch when you capture the image and it should sort that out

I'm not sure about post Ghost 2003, but if you use -IB I believe you have to create a disk image instead of just a partition image in order to obtain the boot information.

I'll give that a try as I saw it on previous post's but thought it was only for certain versions of Ghost

If you use the DOS-based graphical interface, you can choose the "Image Boot" option by going to the options menu and looking through the various categories.

Just trying that now from the grphival interface but thanks again will let you know later

Joy!!! Joy!! It sees to have worked. I really would like to thank you all especialy smvp6459 for your help. I have spread the word about this forum because I dont usually use them cause I'm crap but hey I will from now on!

I'm glad to have helped...I spent about half a day swapping drives in and out, trying to figure out what was wrong. Hopefully it took you less time than would have been the case otherwise.
