Best way to store spare battery

I just got my X60s which came with a standard 4 cell battery. I also ordered an 8 cell for when I travel and will require the extra capacity.

What is the best way to store the battery when I'm not using it in order for it not to degrade or loose any capacity? Should it be stored fully charged and then topped up every once in a while? I've read mixed ideas so am a little confused.

From what I've read. Store it 40% to 50% charged, in a freezer bag, in the refrigerator, not in the freezer.
That also depends on your wifes opinion.

Wow, I haven't heard that one before. Not sure about being allowed to store a battery in the fridge - wife will think I've totally lost it :P

Funny I just found that page a few minutes ago. Looks like I'll need to speak nicely to my wife

I was just about to ask the same question with which this topic started... It seems more and more that this forum really HAS all the answers. Great.

50% Charge, and be sure to safely store the battery itself. I broke one of the clips on my spare T43 battery by not storing it appropiately.
