Waterfield sleeve question

#1 Post by getlow » Sun Aug 06, 2006 2:34 pm

on sfbags.com they have the horizontal (22-18) and vertical 22-19) sleeves listed as different sizes for the x60s (8 cell)..

i'm interested in getting the vertical one, because my x60s is going to be going inside my backback..

can anybody confirm which size is appropriate for a vertical x60s 8 cell??

thanks!

the 22-19 is the right size for vertical. I got mine last week with the vertigo bag. Fantastic quality and fit. I also got the flap, which protects my sprint aircard.

Hmm. I did not think to get a vertical one. I will also most likely re use a book bag.

One piece of information: Don't be surprised, if you order the 22-19, to get an inside size tag that says "18".

Did this happen to you? Do you think it was a mistake, or that they somehow alter the 18 size cases? The people there seem very nice, so if you think there was an error, I'm sure they'd want to hear about it.

Actually I found out because Lucas emailed the people after he got his case of the same size (22-19) when he saw that "18" was printed on the inside size label. Check this:

"You received the proper size as have changed our size matrix with the #18=#22-19." -Tanja from sfbags

You're right about their service though, hands down.

I have 8 WaterField sleeves in both vertical and horizontal orientation for my various ThinkPads. Why? Because these are the best fitting, highest quality, longest lasting sleeves one can get. They offer the best protection when I choose to put them in a bag (backpack or other) that is not designed to carry a computer. I started out just ordering 2, and based on the quality of the product and customer service I ordered for my other ThinkPads. I do not work for them, just a very satisfied customer.

The first time I ordered it was MY mistake in misreading their sizing guide on the web. When the sleeves (2) arrived they did not fit. I called them and they were very courteous and happy to exchange them even though it was my mistake. They issued a credit the same day the sleeves were returned! The replacements arrived 1 day later!

My suggestion on sizing... If you are uncertain, simply pickup the phone and call them. They really care about their customers and will be certain that you get the right fit.

Cheers.... :D

Archer: Right on, call them. All the folks there are very helpful. They actually changed my sleeve model for me as I had selected the wrong. Since I listed the model they double checked and made the correction for me.

On a side note, I've just finished writing a review of my WaterField Designs bag, sleeve and cable boy. I'll most likely post it in the next day. I'm just waiting for the opportunity to take some photos.

Enjoy your sleeve getlow!

I have a question. I'm ordering an x60s with both the 8 cell and 4 cell slim batteries. Would a Waterfield 22-18, which is the size recommended for the 8 cell be acceptable for the four cell too(can you cinch the strap w/velcro tighter to make it fit)?

I'd prefer not to buy 2 sleeves when one will do.

22-18 is fine. Just ask sfbags for some neoprene scraps, and put them in the bottom when you use the 4 cell. You could try to cinch the top closed with the strap, but I prefer the neoprene method. Plus, I only use the 8-cell for travel so I don't take the neoprene out very often.

smvp6459, thanks for the info. That's a good idea to have padding at the bottom.
