S.M.A.R.T info on X60s HDD

#1 Post by domi » Tue Aug 08, 2006 1:20 am

I use two HDD on my X60s (not at the same time!). Both are 80 GB / 5400 rpm: Hitachi HTS541080G9SA00 and Seagate ST98823AS, the former running XP SP2 and the latter W2K SP4. Notebook Hardware Control reports a temperature of 0°C for both of them and clicking on "Show HD SMART" doesn't yield any info (except OK / SMART reported good status).

When using NHC on my X31 (HD: Toshiba MK6022GAX), I get both the HD temperature and the values for 23 different SMART attributes. Is it because the new SATA drives don't use SMART? Or because NHC (I'm using v. 2.0 Pre-Release 02) is not compatible with SATA drives?

I use a utility called speedfan, which reports temp numbers for my HD (HTS541060G9SA00 (60.0GB))
