just got up this morning and the first thing I did was check the status and it's out for delivery, OMG someone just knocked on the door, I got my ThinkPAD!!

Hmm, it sounds like some of you did not get an e-mail that the laptop had shipped, and others were checking the site and seeing no progress, but that it actually was shipped and delivered. Is that a correct assessment?

If that's the case, maybe I won't worry too much. No e-mail and the site still says In process. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll go home today and see that UPS attempted delivery. I'd be pretty ecstatic.

It seems that lots of people's X61s have been shipped these two days.

Mine is still in process, no updates......Furious about Lenovo

finally received it, but i have some questions about the build quality. (or... the recipient does.. i'm going to check it out in an hour or so)

Update on mine --

Website said it shipped on 7/12 but it actually left Shanghai on the 6th! So i got it on the 13th.

Had the sys admins swap out the HD for a 7k200 ( ), installed 64-bit Vista business (to exploit 4GB RAM), and i'll play with it on Monday.

I don't know what to think now. The ESD was originally 7/15, then it was moved to 7/16 over the weekend. Fair enough. Now, when I check this morning, it is showing 8/2. If that held out to be true, that would mean two months I have waited, since my original order date was 5/31.

My patience is wearing awfully thin.

what kind of system do you order? Any special configurations? Otherwise, it is hard to understand the significant delay.

WHAT?!!!!!!!!! That's ridiculous!! Indeed, what config did you have that would cause such a delay? (if the delay is in fact true, and not an additional cruel joke on lenovo's part)

In other news, I got an email from Lenovo saying my system is shipping (although I'm a trifle confused as to why they haven't yet charged my credit card...maybe when it actually gets put in the UPS carrier's hands?)

Nothing too unusual. I'll be putting in an extra GB from Crucial, but wasn't going to order it until I actually know the laptop is about to ship.

I did have problems where the order was misconfigured, so that can account for some of the delay.

Perhaps that was it. What did customer service tell you when you called them to check the status of the order?

I remember my rep last week told me it was the screen holding up the unit...(surprise surprise)

I've been active in checking my email for about 1 month hoping to get the shipping email soon, and I am disappointed everytime.
I do not see any sign that it will be shipped tomorrow.

called my rep today I ordered on 7/3 and they said everything has been shipped to the warehouse. "We have a 10-15 day lead time with 3-4 days assembly" He said the 10-15 day lead time was for the screens to come in and that my order would be shipped at the end of July (7/25-7/31). However not sure if this is BS or not.

I already got my ultrabase and dvd drive. So all thats left is what is in my signature.

Well, mine finally arrived at the door today and I'm busy installing apps and cleaning out bloatware...overall though, I can't believe it's here! I keep checking to see if I hadn't picked up my old X31 by mistake lol

this thread frightens me. i start school august 8th, and I need this thing ASAP. I called and they said mine would be shipped the 2nd week of August. I really hope that this isn't delayed any.

might should have just bought the x60 off ebay instead of the x61 from lenovo

Will Lenovo e-mail you a shipping notice once your order has shipped?

yes they will but sometimes there system has been lagged as some people haven't received their message but their order shipped so yeh

My ESD is tomorrow (July 20th), I haven't heard anything and I'm not expecting it to ship. It's now been a month and a half since I ordered it.

I would not count on it shipping by the 8th. I am now almost two months past my order date with too many new ESDs to remember. Sometimes Lenovo tells me they are pushing back the shipping date and other times they don't. I've emailed them twice, and they have responded politely albeit not very promptly. I just can't count on what they tell me anymore.

At this point it is so absurd that I would like to see if we get beyond the two month mark..could happen. Or it could show up on my doorstep tonight--see I am still hopeful

The last email I had from the Lenovo Rep. on 7/13/07 said that his supply team told him that my X61s had an estimated ship date of 7/23-25 even though my web page says ESD of 7/20/07. I ordered mine 6/1/07. I've had 3 changes in ESD since I placed the order.

Beautiful. Although at the same time, looking at it, I can't help but think it took HOW long to make this thing? seriously. it's as if they're churning them out by hand or something lol

I would have suggested canceling if you didn't want a T7500 and trying to purchase it online through a re-seller like pcconnection, . . . except we all know that lenovo's almost as skilled at canceling orders as they are at shipping them in a reasonable a mount of time

Oh, we're neighbors..I lived in La Canada, now in Montrose. I too am getting $100 back and when all is said and done it should be ~$900 shipped for an x61s, so a good deal and thus I have a little more patience than I ordinarily would

Does it seem like the x61s with UltraLight is holding people's orders up? Last I heard from Lenovo was there was some part shortages, which is the same as others here have said.

My ESD online says 8/2. However, I was told that it could possibly ship next week (jeez, where have we heard that before?) I'm certainly not going to hold my breath. It will be an absolute miracle when this thing actually ships.

And like others, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm getting the laptop config I want cheaper than what I could buy now, I'm willing to sit and wait. I also don't have any immediate need for this laptop. It is more of a want. My new Dell desktop that shipped within two days of ordering is humming along quite nicely

What did you guys do to get $100 off? What did you say?

My 3rd ESD of 7/20/07 was changed this morning to 8/7/07. That would make it over 2 months from the order date (6/1/07). Time will tell if it actually ships. I did order the Ultralight display as well which may be causing some of the holdups.
With regard to the $100, you'll need to call a CSR and demand some sort of compensation for the delay. They will need to check with someone before they offer it. My rep said that she would email me back and she actually did saying that I would get $100 off once the unit shipped.
