No, you may get it sooner. I've noticed that Lenovo only seems to send out their machines in bulk batches about once a month. So everyone's machine will back-up until the bulk shipment goes it (usually the end of the month)

Just ordered my first ThinkPad: an X61s. No top notch specifications and no estimated delivery date, but a huge student discount.
Looking forward to a really nice and sturdy GNU/Linux-compatible system!

Gah, you're killing me; mine is still marked as "In Process", and some of the items (an extra 4cell slim battery) have actually been pushed back to October 4th.
I knew I don't actually need that Intel Turbo Memory (or perhaps it's the bluetooth which is causing the delay...).

In any case... argh - and congratulations on your new X61s

My X61s shipped on 9/17, was ordered on 8/31.

1GB RAM, 80GB 5400RPM HD, 1GB Turbo Memory, Bluetooth, Fingerprint Reader, Intel Draft-N WiFi.

However for those who haven't gotten shipped yet, I feel it prudent to note that I had my processing priority bumped up by a sales rep. as they owed it to me because my first X61s was defective.

I am sorry to hear that your order has not shipped yet. I know how you feel, my T61p order (placed in July) only got shipped yesterday, been waiting for it almost 2 month

Unbelievable. Or quite believable and expected, depends on your PoV I guess.

I just called Lenovo, and after being put on hold for about 20 minutes with some weird excuse about having to check on my order status (on a very bad quality phone line, probably outsourced), I was transferred to a guy who seemed to actually know what's up. He, on the other hand, did not need 20 minutes to pull up my order, and immediately told me my order is not even in production yet, and is highly unlikely to ship any time in the next three weeks due to supply issues with the LCD ultralight panels. This really bugs me, because they pushed my ESD back to 02.10, which is obviously just as much BS as the previous one.

I'm pondering canceling and placing an order for a Dell XPS M1330, which I was considering purchasing originally, before convincing myself an X61s is a better choice (when in fact I couldn't decide and just wanted the machine quicker

) due to Dell supply delays.

Sorry, wrote too much - bottom line for others who may be interested: Lenovo claim X61s with Ultralight displays are unlikely to even enter production in the next 3 weeks, at the least - which obviously sounds like nonsense considering some people have been getting their machine, with an ultralight panel, within 4 days...

I was trying to get my order in before these sales end, but there are no SXGA+ options?? I even called and asked if they could supply it (on backorder) but to no avail...

Anyone have any thoughts on when the SXGA+ will be back in the X61?

I ordered my X61s on 10/02/07

I called and changed my configuration from having the Atheros wifi card to the AGN when I read further into palm rest heat issues and my estimated ship date was bumped up three days to 10/22/07

After bugging CS a bit I was told the third week of January is when I could expect it to ship.

Got my X61s today. What an amazing little machine. I couldn't believe how small and yet how solid it feels. The keyboard is awesome feels way better than the one on my Macbook Pro.

My first Thinkpad and I couldn't be happier.

Ordered my X61T on 10/4. It said estimated ship date was 10/30. I checked the order status today and it says it shipped 10/28! Hopefully it will arrive sometime this week.

I ordered a X61s on 10/26 with an estimated ship date on the final order confirmation page stating a ship date of 10/26.... odd.

Order status site says ship date of 11/14 expected. Hopefully I'll have it before then!

I ordered on the 18th of September
Lenovo initialy gave the shipdate of the 9th of October, and to someone who thought most laptops get delivered within two weeks, that's a long @$$ time...
so the 9th comes around, shipdate gets updated to the 30th of October

So I called, Lenovo said they're sorry, but demand is high. I'm sure I'm not the only person who saw PC Mag give the x60 Tablet the highest overall rating, so I guess that made sense. The rep, sounding somewhat clueless, said he doesn't have the actual status on the laptop, but will have someone call me back in a couple of days - didn't happen.
So I called on the following weekend, spoke to another rep, demanded the actual status of my order, and argued that I felt I should be entitled to the 20% discount instead of the 15% I got at checkout. The guy said he's very very sorry, and that they can give me the 20% off, but I will have to call back during regular business days since their customer service center is closed.

I called them back two days later, and was informed that it WILL be shipped on the 25th of October, and when asked about the 20%, the guy said I had to E-mail him the coupon code for him to verify before "price matching" is possible. He said he will either E-mail, or call me to confirm the 20% off, which of course, neither happened.
Since they don't charge my CC until they ship it out, I figured I'll wait until they ship to check the 20% off.

So as promised, it was shipped on the 25th, and I got my tracking number on the 26th. And here I'm thinking, [censored] thing has finally shipped, all is well right? it gets even better...

UPS website indicated it's to be delivered on the 29th, Monday. 1st delivery attempt failed, no one home, tag left on door, package cycled back to the facility. I figured I'll just run home, grab the slip, and then pick it up no problem. I called UPS to check if the package is available for pickup back at their facility, guy who answered the phone said he can't confirm, but will give me a call within the hour. I get a call back saying that the package has the cycled back into the facility, can't be located at the time, but he will put in a note to hold it from being delivered so I can pick it up the next day. Alright, fine, I've waiting over a month now, just another day, not gonna kill me.

So this morning, I got to work, checked the UPS tracking site, and here's what I see:

Called UPS, they told me that per Lenovo, package is ONLY allowed for deliver, no pickups permitted, and when a request for pickup is submitted, or any change to delivery is made, the package is automatically sent back to Lenovo.

I was told I've got to call Lenovo to straighten this out if I want the package back.

So I just got off the call with Lenovo's customer service, their systems are currently down, can't track my order status, wonderful. Said he'll call me back. I can only hope that happens before that package is put on a plane back to Shanghai.

maybe I'll have better luck calling my relatives in Shanghai to wait at the airport to pick it up for me....

ordered an X61s (7668-CTO) configured with the 1.8ghz L7700, 4gb RAM, 100gb 7200rpm drive, 1gb turbo memory, fingerprint, bluetooth, 802.11 AGN, 3 extra power adapters, 4cell and an 8cell on 10/26. estimated ship date was 11/16. all of the power accessories (extra battery and power adapters) shipped out separately on 10/27. the laptop itself is showing up as shipped as of this morning, 10/31. pretty fast turnaround!

Just curious, why 64-bit? I have been trying to decide between 32-bit and 64-bit, but ended up going 32-bit since it has better compatibility.

I installed 4 GB of RAM and I want to be able to make use of all of it. Also, I am a software developer and I want to be able to test things out on a 64 bit OS. I'll probably run some virtual machines, so being able to access all 4 GB of RAM will be helpful for that too.
