This isn't my first thinkpad Nikki, I know.

Decided to check my status for XXXXX and giggles, UPS tracking number is already there, they have it pegged for the 31st.

Ordered on the 23rd, in my hands by the 31st (hopefully), that is amazing.

I remember my worst ordering experience was back before the Lenovo acquisition, I ordered an X40 and it took over a month and a half to get. Ouch.

EDIT: Ordered an X61T and X61S, both customized with various bits like Bluetooth, RAM, HD.

my new laptop has light leakage on the top left hand corner but it doesn't brother that much for now but i am a little disappointed tho. NO Bezel problem yet everything look ok so far but i only look at it for 30 min and now it is doing a clean install and battery charging. I wonder if i should upgrade to warranty to accidental coverage , any suggestion . i have 2 year basic now.

I purchased Laptop on 12/28
Receipt said it will ship on the 14th.

When I check online it says it will ship on the 23rd and I chose ground shipping....so it looks like it will take over a month to get my laptop  WTF I got my Compaq in a week....

The Compaq has a dead pixel, but wow just wow, I could RMA and get another one long before the IBM ever gets here....Makes me more tempted to save $500 and just keep the compaq instead...

Its not even X-mas anymore so whats up with the huge delay? By the time I get the thign it will be obsolete...I knew I should have ordered an XPS ....

Justintoxicated, If you are in a hurry, then the best thing is to order from Lenovo Outlet. You can get new or refurbished thinkpads there. They tend to ship in a few days since they are already built and you tend to get a good discount.

They end up costing more for lower spec laptops. not a single 1.8ghz on the outlet....

If I get my Cash backs (which will also now be delayed consequently) this thing will cost me

I ordered the Lenovo X61s
C2D 1.8 (Low Voltage Eddition) 800MHZ FSB 4MB L2
Vista basic (Meh)
12.1" UltraLight with Antenna
1Gb Ram (1Dimm) (Planning to Add 4GB new chips for total of 4GB and (maybe) sell the 1GB)
80Gb Hard Drive (Will be scouring Hotdeals once I recover from this hit for something larger as well)
Intel Wireless 4965GN Centrino Pro
Bluetooth
8 Cell battery
1GB Intel® Turbo Memory hard drive cache
Total:
974.19 after tax and shipping

It doesn't matter if you choose ground or Express. Lenovo will alway shipped Express,
whatever the case, from china. so save your money and pick ground shipment when you order your newly configure pc from Lenovo.- That Express shipment option at the end of the config to order page is a sucker option. please pick ground & save $25. I guarantee you they will ship Fed Express all you have to worry about is waiting for the laptop to past Us customs.it take 2-3 days for custom@ Louisville Kentucky. After that you will get the laptop the next day.

Lenovo is shipping your order a lot sooner then the date theY give you on your receipt so don't worry. 2 week & you should have it.

Well I hope your right but they did push the date back so I would imagine there is a reson for that. But even 3 weeks would be better than a month....I called to find out what hardware I had added to my order that was on backorder but they said they could not tell me. I was going to tell them to forget about whatever it was that was holding it up. Also asked if they could ship with no Hard Drive / OS/ or Memory but they also told me a big NO!

Would have saved me some time and money but oh well I think I got a decent deal anyways...

My order was placed on 12-31 for an x61 and the ship date is currently 1-24-07. That is a pretty long wait compared to my t60 I got about 18 months ago.

I bought my x61 on the 31st too to take advantage of the year end coupon deal (saved an extra $200+) and my ship date is also the 24th of January. I did notice that the 8 cell battery option increased the ESD from 1-2 weeks to 2-3 weeks. They may be waiting on a production run of the 8 cells. I was going to swap it to 4 cell to decrease the wait time, but I think waiting the extra week for the 8 cell will be worth it.

I also ordered the 8 cell. I have heard that the DVD/cd drive in the base is also holding up orders by up to a week.

I got a shipping notice last week, then another notice + tracking / process link on monday...But still no laptop doh! Going crazy with no PC, my video card RMA for my desktop should be here today as well but requires signature so I'll likely miss that one too and have to go another weekend (until tuesday or wednesday actualy due to the holiday monday) ..meh :(

At least it shipped! Now I just hope I get what I paid for.

Well according to tracking on my laptop Its been sitting in Cali Since the 10th, they shipped it to KY for some reason, then back to Cali and it looks like it is not goign to make it out of customs so if it is not here in 2 days I'm going to have to cancel my order / dispute payment if necessary and sell the case i bought for it....This is ridiculous.

X61 Order - Shipping Bizareness

#677 Post by Flashman » Sat Jan 26, 2008 4:46 pm

I ordered my x61 on Jan 18. The website tells me it will ship March 5th. But when I called they tell me it will ship Feb 6th, to ignore the website, as it is not very accurate.

Anyone else experience this? I find it amusing that Feb 6th would be exactly 11 business days (if you count MLK holiday) since my order. Exactly the limit of the time frame they say it will take ("up to").

Shipped Feb 13.

Attempted delivery Feb 14. I wasn't there and UPS refused to let anyone other than me sign. Delivered Feb 15.

Ordered an X61 with that 8 cell battery that added a week onto the estimated ship date on Jan 30th, but it still managed to ship today, Feb 2.

I called Lenovo today and they informed me the new ship 'week' (they told me they don't do exact dates) is the week of February 11-15. Sounds like if it does ship, this will be arriving one month after order.

I did notice that since my order, the WAN for "Cingular" has been changed to "AT&T" with the added warning "selecting this option will delay your order by 4 weeks". Mine never had that warning, but I am guessing this is the source of the delay.

I'm guessing due to Chinese New Year, my laptop has been sitting in the UPS loading dock in Shanghai from 2/2 till at least 2/6.

That date did not fly. They gave me an adjustment date of 2/14/08. Sadly, the 14th came and went and no shipment. I've called today and been informed that the 'new' shipping date is 2/18/08.

I ordered mine on 12/31 and it said ship date would be 1/24, but I actually *received* it on 1/18.

They kind of have a squirelly shipping process. I was notified the order was shipped the day before I got it. The tracking hadn't updated enough in the UPS system to give me a ETA on it (was thinking it would get held up in customs for a day or two), but it got delivered to the eastern US faster than tracking could keep up.

I did pay for the extra shipping ($50). Some say this is a chump charge because lenovo always ships 2-day, but I don't know.

That's a pretty good deal; my x61 7675CTO was almost $1900 (w/ the 3yr protection). I got the ultrabay and the DVD-RW too, but that's still a good deal. Did you use coupons?

I don't know if I ever mentioned thin here, it may be OT, but when I ordered my x61 I selected Vista Ultimate and got Vista pre-installed and a restore set for XP Pro. I'm curious to know if you receive the XPP CDs as well or if that's only with ultimate lic.
