You can't check the status of your order online in Canada.

They'll probably ship it sooner than my x61t, which I ordered on the 15th. Supposed to ship on 29th. I just wish their status would be more detailed besides 'in process' for the last week.
aereolis, I would assume/hope that your package would ship very soon as you ordered a week before me. Mine was quoted for 1-2 weeks.
You can also check out the lenovo thinkpad x-series forum in their shipping thread,
http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/mess ... ing&page=8. One of the moderators, 'Mark_Lenovo', seems very nice in helping people look up more detailed order statuses.

Called Lenovo today, and they said estimated ship date is 9/3/08...and that it probably won't arrive until 9/10/08.
I ordered on 8/10/08

What did you order? I hope it's not a x61t, else I'll be far behind you...

I suppose this gives more opportunity for a better deal to pop up, then I can cancel this one.
edit: I guess I now know what to expect when 8/29/08 rolls around, an extension of 2 more weeks before 'shipping'.

Laptop has dropped in price. Unfortunately it's past 9pm, so their offices are closed.
I'll call tomorrow to price adjust/match. I'm going to save $132 on the same configuration.

When I ordered ( 8/18 ) I had a 10% coupon on top of the 30% off price. That should equal 100-90*70=37% off, which is less than the current 40% off. However, configuring the same machine I have on order with the new lower price makes it $10 more expensive. The reason is that the 37% applied to the whole order (base machine + upgrades) instead of just the base machine.

That's strange. When I ordered on 8/15, I got initial 25% off WHOLE order and then I used a 20% coupon too.
As of today, they have 32% off whole order and 20% coupon too.

Well, I just tried another coupon (the one I tried earlier today wasn't working), and get a total $270 less than my current order. I have emailed my sales rep and asked him to adjust the price.
In case he won't do it, are there any policies at Lenovo one can point to? I found a link to a "shopping guarantee", but that led to a blank page.

You could cancel your order if they won't change your price.
I'll be calling them as soon as I get the chance.
I also JUST got my order confirmation email. I didn't realize that there would be a 'confirmation' email after the initial email. Especially after 11 days! Hope it wasn't any issues with my credit card, since they should have definitely contacted me sooner to fix that.

Me too, about an hour after I emailed my sales guy asking for the price adjustment. (The estimated shipping date has also disappeared from the online order status page.) I'm actually rather relieved you got this email as well, I was wondering if somehow my request triggered a rush to get me the machine before I could talk to them about the price. If others are getting the same email, the timing is obviously a coincidence.

I still have my est. shipping date on my order status page.
On the confirmation email, which is more detailed than the initial email, I noticed that the laptop does come with a fingerprint reader. I had first thought that since it wasn't an option and not mentioned, that it wasn't going to be given. However, according to the parts list it will be included.

I'd rather have had the bluetooth option, myself. Or sound hardware that hasn't been intentionally crippled.
There does not seem to be any problem with getting the new price, except for the hassle of getting an official new quotation. My sales agent has been almost suspiciously helpful.

Haha. I did the quote myself just now. I didn't like the fact that I had to put in credit card information again, just for a quote.
The Indian call center, which I called twice (1st for procedure, 2nd to provide the quote#), said that the adjustment wouldn't go through until my laptop shipped AND then I had to call in again to request the adjustment. He did record my quote# on my order.
They almost seem to want you to forget about calling in again. From older postings I found online regarding a price adjustment, it seems like last year you got approved after a day or 2.
Also, I rechecked my shipping status while on the phone. The CSR said it would ship out by 9/8/08. Though the website still says 8/29/08. I hope the website is right, but I doubt it.

If you choose the credit card payment option at the order page, but leave the cc information blank, it will still generate a quotation.
Funny how simply asking for a price reduction changes the shipping date!

Did you get an email with your quote information? I haven't gotten any such email yet. I hope it doesn't arrive over a week later, like my confirmation.

No, but I logged in and saw that it was there in their system, and correct (=matched what I thought I'd ordered).
BTW, my order confirmation was not quite correct - it reflected a mistake I had made in the original order (XGA instead of SXGA+) but then corrected. Fortunately, I have a pretty substantial paper trail at this point, including confirmational emails from my sales rep, so I am not worried.

I just called again to ask about my order status, since the est shipping date is still 8/29/08.
The CSR said the delay was due to shortage of 8cell batteries. It's apparently being put together in HK and will ship out when they get a battery for me. I asked if it was possible to ship out the laptop and battery separately, but he said it wasn't. I know I read somewhere that some one did manage to get it separately, but I don't know the details of it.
So, I have another week to wait.. during which it may or may not ship out. How hard is it for them to communicate amongst their departments and find out when batteries will come in and be allocated for a set of orders..??

Hi I am one of the lucky ones who has a functioning thinkpad, however I was helped greatly by a site a friend put me in touch with

gaahhh! My thinkpad is supposed to ship tomorrow, and I just called them to confirm it. I'm anxious and a bit [censored] at the same time since it's been 3 weeks...I'm seriously going to start climbing up the walls now. I have to wait at least one more week before I can actually physically get my hands on the unit.

Estimated shipping date on mine was 9/2. Today it changed to 9/16. Four-cell battery, so that isn't an issue.

Mine had changed to be 9/12/08 a few days ago. The other reason I've heard (on forums) was the SXGA+ screen, though my CSR said it was a battery delay.
Maybe I'll call them daily and keep asking if they'll ship the battery separately. Wonder if they track all my status request calls...

FWIW, I just (30 seconds ago, while I was reading this thread!) got a shipment confirmation from Lenovo on my machine.

I also got a shipment confirmation email. I guess they got their big shipment of whatever they were lacking.
I'm secretly hoping that it'll arrive tomorrow. Some people have gotten it the day after their email, maybe me too...
update: Got tracking info. Scheduled delivery 9/8. It's going to be a long long weekend. And a sleepless Monday.
update: It seems like the UPS site took off the scheduled delivery field.

It no longer states when it might be delivered. I hope DHS doesn't feel tempted to probe my package..

Well, my tracking is showing
THE SERVICE SELECTED IS NOT AVAILABLE TO THE DESTINATION ADDRESS / DOWNGRADED, FORWARDED TO CONSIGNEE, SELECTED SERVICE IS NOT AVAILABLE
so in some parts of the US we might not be any better off than Canada.

Sorry to hear that guys. My package is slowly traveling to me. Scheduled date field is back and on time for 9/8/08.
I don't really understand Canada though. My package went through Anchorage Alaska, so it should actually reach Canada faster.
