X6x Shipping thread

I placed my order for the X60s after having the X60 for a week on August 1st. I thought that a little more than 2 weeks is more than enough time for them to ship (I'll be moving to Shanghai on the 18th)

My x60 only took about a week to ship and 2 days to get Cali from Shanghai. Now I just got an e-mail from them saying that my X60s won't ship until the week of the 21st!!!!!!

Is there a high demand for the X60s due to back to school?

Can I ask them to ship the computer to me to my Shanghai address? It might even be same day delivery

Ordered mine the 21st and expected to ship is the 14th.

Are they building these things by hand?

OMG, I can't believe it. My X60s has been shipped!

I ordered it on 8/1 so it took about 10 days to ship out. I don't know what it is but pestering their CS may have helped....LOL.

I ordered my second X60 on 7/26 and it's expected to ship 8/24 =( The first X60 I ordered arrived in less than 10 days from my order date when I bought it a month ago. I guess this is the trade-off for getting a better machine for $300 cheaper a month later =)

So what did you do with the first one? RMA?

Yup. Called in for RMA within 30 days of my order date (28 days to be exact =P) I was taking my time reconsidering the repurchase while I played with my baby some more.

Yay they just pushed my est ship date to Sept 5th.

F*****S

called them this morning, and they told me end of the week. That date is just a worst case scenario.

Saml01, i'm sorry to hear that.

This may make you feel better. Yes, even though my X60s was shipped earlier, it was supposed to deliver today but due to the following issues, it won't be delivered until tomorrow (maybe, maybe not). When I saw this, I just smiled. These things never run smooth, do they?

LOUISVILLE, KY, US 08/13/2006 10:15 A.M. WAREHOUSE ENTRY CLEARANCE DETAILS, NECESSARY FOR CUSTOMS CLEARANCE, HAVE BEEN REQUESTED FROM THE RECEIVER

LOUISVILLE, KY, US 08/13/2006 9:18 A.M. WAREHOUSE ENTRY CLEARANCE DETAILS, NECESSARY FOR CUSTOMS CLEARANCE, HAVE BEEN REQUESTED FROM THE RECEIVER

ONTARIO, CA, US 08/12/2006 11:32 A.M. THE SHIPMENT IS BEING HELD BY BROKERAGE FOR REASONS BEYOND UPS' CONTROL

SHANGHAI, CN 08/13/2006 1:37 A.M. THE AIRLINE OFF-LOADED PACKAGES CAUSING A DELAY

SHANGHAI, CN 08/12/2006 9:17 A.M. ORIGIN SCAN

CN 08/12/2006 12:57 A.M. BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED

I've researched on this issue and it seems like this was a fairly common cause of delay for the X41 last year? Something to do with Lenovo/IBM not shipping with the correct documents?

Anyways, so the IBM/Lenovo saga goes on....

To be continued......

I placed my order on 7/20 (x60s/back to school), the original est. ship date was 8/11. now is 9/4 (delayed). I called them. They told me something about a late chassis shipment. Is this a unique case for me or there are someone else who's getting the same thing (delay/reason)? Does that happen often?

I was told the same thing. They "dont have the nessecarry parts to assemble the machine". Stupid rep, I asked him "are you building these one at a time? havent you people heard of an inventory".

I even asked for compensation for the delay and got nothing, but a smirk.

Im already appauled. You would think that the company that makes some of the best laptops in the world would have the best shipping and service as well.

I pay 1900 dollars for a laptop and have to wait 2 months, id rather pay 600 for a dell and have it the next day.

It's seems to me that there are some massive organizational problems here. We have all been told all kinds of "stories" or given "excuses" by the reps that work for Lenovo. I do not blame them as they are in the middle between the customer and the company and I do not think the company is getting the job done. As opposed to arguments about design, quality, etc, where the focus truly needs to be is on the sales & distribution system problems.

My orders for myself and my company have been poorly handled. This has cost us countless hours of wasted time dealing with them on the phone and other forms of communications. There is no sense of urgency, or if there is, it's hidden deep under layers of confusion within their organzation.

Therefore, in many cases I have simply cancelled the Lenovo order and purchased through an online reseller for a better price and next day delivery. I know of a couple of IBM/Lenovo authorized resellers that have huge inventories. In many cases they get their orders filled before Lenovo fills orders to it's own customers. That's why I have given up trying to deal with Lenovo.

In the past Lenovo had an advantage in their liberal return policy, however that has been terminated so I see no reason to purchase from them. There is a huge advantage to using a reseller. They care about their customers. They either have it in stock or they do not. There is no confusion, they do not mislead or make things up, they discount the product and deliver which is all we want.

Massive organization problem would be an understatement. In addition, Lenovo has serious supply chain issues that they need to fix FAST!

There is a 50 page thread on another forum that talks about the exact problem I'm having right now (The thread is from last year tho). Bascially its Lenovo not sending the right or any documents prior to the arrival of containers to clear US customs. I hear you asking 'wait, but aren't there hundreds of units in a container? so that would mean that none of it would get cleared even though one unit has the ppwk?' and the answer would be 'yes!'

My unit has been in 'In Transit' since Saturday and its still in LOUISVILLE. Upon calling UPS, they are telling me that its waiting to clear customs and the documents and upon calling Lenovo, they are telling me that its 'standard procedure' and I would still get it in the 'time frame' of '7-10 business days'. Oh such lies.

Thanks Lenovo, for messing up IBM's reputation. This will be the last time that I order from you guys!

hey lilminmin, please post the thread you referenced.

I don't think you should get too upset, macbooks were out of stock in canada for the last few weeks I heard casually on another forum.

Dannyp, I can understand the backorder and such but the logistics part such as customs, brokerage and ppwk should be relatively simple. If Lenovo plans to continue IBM's brand and reputation, they are going to do a HELL LOT better than this!

And I've been an avid user of IBMs for quite a few years now....I'm really disspointed in Lenovo.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the thread here but here it is

I almost bought a business HP with better specs than the X60s I have on the way (albeit a 14" laptop instead of a 12") for $300 less through newegg with overnight shipping. I could have ordered 7/31 and had it 8/2. Instead I order the X60s 7/31 and its not even due to ship until 8/21.

Those b@$$@rds did it! They changed my ship date from 8/16 to 9/7. School starts 9/8. Now, I actually have a laptop already...a 7lb one. So it's not like I have NOTHING, but that really burns my cookies. I'm calling them if for no other reason than to voice my opinion. According to posts I've read sometimes it can actually help. I ordered the bloody thing on 7/25! I guess they figured that for $700 off you wouldn't mind waiting. WRONG!

And not even so much as an automatically generated email to notify me of that. I am really less than impressed right now.

Will keep you updated.

With so many people complaining about slow shipping from Lenovo, why not order from Newegg, buy.com etc. instead?

I thought I read somewhere in this forum that some people who bought their Thinkpads from a reseller had problems with the one month return policy because the warranty started the day the reseller received the laptop, not the buyer. I'm not sure if this is the case for other resellers, but it's just one thing I've heard.

I'm still waiting for mine. 8/24 baby. I hope they don't delay it further. Btw, It says "In process" right now. What would it say if it's packed and shipping?

If its been shipped, you would get an e-mail saying that its been shipped and your Order Status would say "Shipped on <date>" with tracking information available the next day.

Well as for me, I didn't buy from a reseller because of the EPP program. But from now on, I will seriously consider buying anywhere EXCEPT Lenovo.com

Interesting...

I called today to ask about the change of shipping date to 9/7 from 8/16. Kudos to Lenovo for giving out the sales rep's direct lines. I called "Atkinns" at Lenovo and left a message on his voicemail. HE called back within a half hour and told me that he figured why I was calling, and contacted the distributor. Apparently (so he says, at least), there was a problem with LCDs, an that according to "them," it should ship today or tomorrow. He said he would monitor it and email me if it wasn't going to be this week. If nothing else, he made me feel better about the delay. Better than no answer at all.

Loaded X60s ordered: 7/23
Original shipping: 8/15
Delayed shipping: 9/6

Called CS to inquire about status and she told me it would ship this week. I asked if she was sure and she replied don't see why not. Mentioned the website status says 9/6, she replies, oh don't worry about that, it's wrong most of the time!

Well see, but I doubt it will ship this week.

So I finally received dmy X60s today, after being held in 'customs' for 4 days.

I suggest you guys continue to pester CS regarding your order, especially those who need it for school!

Woohoo! I just got an email an hour ago about my order being shipped! Ordered on 7/26, and my expected shipping date is 8/24. This is good news, since I wasn't expecting to see my new Thinkpad until two weeks later, but I'll hold my words until the unit actually arrives in my hands probably early next week.

I hope everyone else is receiving their shipments as well.

Congrats. These little machines are well worth the wait!

Just pray that yours won't get held up in 'customs'

I think they're running pretty low on X60s chassis inventory - it took them a month to build the first one I ordered (after originally telling me it would only be two weeks... then three.. then two months... then they shipped it three days after that). I eventually ended up buying a pre-built X60s from euclid and overnighted it after I got tired of waiting (and school started).
