#1 Post by Arek1 » Thu Aug 10, 2006 3:11 pm

Hello,

today my new optical external DVD drive Liten SOSW 831 for my X60s was arrived. When I boot it with Rescue and Recovery discs all seems OK, but when trying boot with normall Windows XP Home edition instalation disc have blue screen when installer loading common drivers.
Same is when booting with CD created with this tutorial: http://www.4saad.com/WhatsNew/Fresh_XP_ ... /index.htm

even when trying boot with Knopix Live CD.

Any idea what I doing wrong welcome.
Best wishes

Hmm, Didnt know knoppix bsoded.

Recovery is probably sporting a sp2 or something while your home is initial release.

If thats the case, it may be a cause.

No it was in AHCI mode, after switching to Compatibility mode installation started (Knopix and Ubuntu too :) )
Thank you for this advice.
But when I disconnected external DVD and boot from hd (with SATA set in Bios in compatibility mode) i have blue screen when windows starting. After switching mode to AHCI all was OK.
But when I will make full install of fresh Windows XP in future I need switch to Compatibility mode, installation will going and if I good understand beefore first boot form HD after instalation I need switch SATA to AHCI mode or it is something diffrent?
Best wishes

You could just download the sata driver and copy it to a floppy, hit F6 under textmode install of XP, and use a Lenovos driver.

Then you dont need to change anything in BIOS.

The problems with bluescreen is becouse XP does'nt have the correct driver for Lenovo's sata controller.
