I have X60s for a few months. and i always notice that the HD clicking sound (when it's reading/writing) is quite loud compared to other usual notebooks. Does anyone get the same? or only me.
i have hitachi 60GB hd(HTS541060G9SA00).
my microphone can't record any without the hd clicking sound on the background always :( very bad.

(very bad design: microphone right next to the hd.)

I believe that particular drive is notorious for making loud clicking noises. You may try software that allows you to change the acoustic properties of the drive. Notebook Hardware Control allows you to do that as well as some apps at hgst.com.

I would recommend PowerBooster 2K from HitachiGST.

thanks a lot everyone. i found the Feature Tool (v2.1) on the hitachi website http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/d ... eatureTool
it lets me lower the acoustic level to 191 of 255 so it's a lot quieter with slight decreasing in performance (i test it with HDTune)
