Does anyone know if my T/X4-Series Ultrabay Slim HD Adapter can be used in the bay of the X6 Ultrabase with PATA drives, or do I need the new T/X6-Series HD Adapter that uses SATA drives?

Yes this works - either the PATA or SATA bay.

I think you need a different adapter with SATA and PATA drives.

SATA drives use 40Y8725

PATA drives use 41U3148

You can use either adapter with the appropriate drive but the SATA drives (and hence the adapter) are only supported in the ThinkPad R60, T60, X60, and Z60 Series notebooks

NO! You need to buy the appropriate adapter.

You are wrong - the T4x PATA HDD adapter works fine in the X60

May be I was wrong. I upgraded the x60 hdd and wanted to use the old sata hdd in the x60 ultrabase with my old t43 hdd adapter. This was not possible, I had to buy a new hdd adapter.

What I overlooked was that the old t43 adapter with a pata drive might fit into the x60 ultrabase.

Sorry for my mistake.
