Got my X60s!!

#1 Post by mfratt » Wed Aug 23, 2006 2:11 pm

After a 3 week wait, Lenovo decided to ship my X60s Express (even though I ordered ground), and it was here in Mass 2 days after it left Shanghai.

This has got to be the best computer I've ever laid hands on. A friend has an X31, and this smokes that. The screen is very nice, the computer is tiny, the keyboard is more solid than my T43. Im currently cycling the battery before actually time testing it, but even on its first charge, its lasting pretty long. The fingerprint scanner is sweet. Takes a little getting used to, but after that its easy.

As for the heat, it does get a little warm on the right palm rest, and a little uncomfortable, but not enough for me to want to send it back.

Im trying to activate evdo right now. I keep getting an error message on Verizons site. If it still does that tomorrow, Ill just call.

Oh and the X6 Ultrabase, they finally fixed the problem where the key needs to be in to unlock it. The key is now optional (maybe this was fixed on previous ultrabases, this is my first X series, but both mini docks ive owned required the key)

Congratulations on your new X60s ThinkPad!

I too find the X60s to be an excellent machine. I am very impressed with the build quality and overall balance of the computer. Remember that because this ThinkPad is so thin, some warmth is normal and after while you will not even notice it. After years of using T models, I'm quite impressed with how they were able to duplicate the keyboard size and feel in such a small laptop. I could not be happier.

Cheers... :D

Congrats! Mine is officially one week old today. I love it, and thanks to these forums, I learned so many valuable tips, tweaks & hints. Because I knew in advance that the right wrist rest gets warm due to the wireless card, it doesn't bother me at all. I just switch off the wireless when I don't need it.

Hang in there with the 12", Gunston, if you need an ultraportable. In fact, I'm surprised how WELL I can see with it without strain. You'll get used to it. I'm not sure when YOU were born, but in my day, 13" TVs were pretty big, once! (and in black and white, natch). Not that I'm trading in my 43" LCD projection, but...

Indeed, the 12" is a very good size. I've used 10.4" screens before and even that was useable to me (the keyboard on that one was another story)
