My X60s came with BIOS v1.06. Many posters noted that 1.04 uses less power than 1.06 or 1.09, and they downgraded to 1.04. Does anyone know if there are good reasons to upgrade to 1.10?

I was running 1.06 and noticed a longer battery run time i think. I will run it down tonight and see if it actually does.

In the release notes on Lenovo's site, reference is made to the inclusion of new Intel microcode for the Core Duo. That alone would seem to make the upgrade worthwhile, assuming that it didn't break any existing functionality.

I upgraded my BIOS last night without incident. I can't comment on battery life, although with an 8-cell/extended battery, it's hard to complain if you get more than 7 hrs of use when on WiFi.

I downloaded the exe file with 1.10 flash bios update, but when i double click on winuptp.exe file within 7BUJ08US folder for upgrade, it says 1.04 in the top left corner. When pausing on this upgrade file, it says version 1-04 and release date 22.6. I don't want to go back to 1.04 but go forth with 1.10
Is this normal? In other words- please help me figure it out. I currently have 1.09 installed.

I believe what you are seeing is the version of the flash utility for the BIOS upgrade. mine said the same thing.

So yours said 1.04 and you updated flash and everything worked fine and updated it to 1.10 ?

From my limited testing it still appears that battery life is better with 1.04 than with 1.10.
With 1.04 and max battery life settings my wattage hangs in the 8's
With 1.10 and max battery life settings my wattage hangs in the 10's
I would be curious to see other peoples results

For me lower wattages (as displayed by the power manager gauge) translate into longer battery life- but to summarize I still get better battery life with bios 1.04

Mine too is around 8 watts with 1.04 and never under 10 with 1.10 at least if I trust power manager. If some notice lower heat something has to be wrong. Higher power has to translate into higher temperature (at least my teacher of physics said so ).

Mine runs cooler with same load (video running, mail program, diff.applets and so on). Aps sensor now never over 47 degC. I use 1.10. BIOS.

Maybe it is cooler under load. Idling might be different.

I run v1.06 and wattage is 15.5 with wireless and a few office applications.

Microsoft Word froze twice since I started using the machine, both times it happened when I was trying to open up some word document. Anyone experienced this? I wonder if it is a windows prob, thinkpad prob. or word prob.

I'm running 1.06 and I'm using about 9 watts.

sorry, the 15.5 figure is when I am using AC power, when running off the battery, it is actually 8.1.
