Any Power Managment advantages with new BIOS 1.11 ?

I've figured out more on the issue of power consumption being higher after coming out of suspend or hibernate. I'm still trying to narrow down what is going on, but I'm a lot closer.

Rkuo, thank you for your investigation into the real cause of the wattage glitch. I have BIOS 1.11 installed and observe the same problem -- after fresh reboot my x60s consumes about 6.10-6.60W on idling, but after resuming from sleep mode/hibernations it gets stuck at ~ 8.0W level. However, if I reboot, I get lower wattage back.

However, I do not use Wifi and Bluetooth at all, so they cannot be the culprits, at least in my case.

I wonder if this is any different for other BIOS versions? 1.10?

As you mentioned above, you were going to try and communicate the problem to Lenovo BIOS developers so they could fix it in upcoming BIOS versions. In case you still are, you can have my voice as well, for whatever it is worth.

I had installed BIOS 1.11 and it seemed to be operating fine UNTIL, I updated IBM Message Center with most recent update. Shortly after
installing new Message Center I got a Battery Error message on Startup's or Reboot's. Another symptom was that the Battery Image in the taskbar would appear as a blank outline with 3 dashes inside. When I hovered the cursor over the Icon it showed a battery not installed message! I'd run the recall software on both of my batteries but being somewhat concerned with the symptoms I immediately called IBM/Lenovo Tech support. The 1st thing they asked was whether I'd installed BIOS 1.11. Of course they had me check on startup even though I told them I had. They had me drop back to BIOS 1.10 and the Battery Error symptoms went away!

I went back to BIOS 1.11.

Then I ran Sysinternals' Process Explorer after a fresh boot on batteries, saved the list of services. Wattage was about 6.3 W.

Then I suspended the machine, woke it up after a few minutes, ran PE and saved the list of services after suspend again. Wattage was predictably around 8.5W.

Then I opened both service lists side by side and carefully compared them. However, both lists were identical except for Counters Switch Delta figures.

Looks like the wattage issue with BIOS is somewhere deeper below the surface accessible to amateurs like myself.

On IBM site I only find 1.10 for my X60... nothing higher.
Normal ?

They withdrew 1.11...it's not clear why it was withdrawn. At least one person on the board posted that their computer would no longer boot after the update; maybe there was something wrong with the update.
