Keyboard Flex?
Keyboard Flex?
Do any of you guys experience noticeable keyboard flex from the "8" , "I" and over (right)? By keyboard flex, I mean when I press down say the "L" while typing normally, other keys around it sink as well (reminds me of the dell latitudes in the classrooms at my school). I wouldn't consider myself a very hard typer either. I've typed on other thinkpads (t40p, t43, r60, x41t) and the keyboard flex is non existent.
Any suggestions to fix? screwing something in tighter? replacing keyboard? putting something under the keyboard to prevent flexing? (and my laptop is unreturnable)
Thanks!

Re: Keyboard Flex?
No flex in my keyboard. It seems abnormal. Even though your laptop may be nonreturnable, the keyboard is covered under warranty. You can get a replacement keyboard that is fairly easy to change, thus avoiding the risk of sending your computer out for repair. I would contact Lenovo support.getlow wrote:Do any of you guys experience noticeable keyboard flex from the "8" , "I" and over (right)?

This condition is not normal. ThinkPads are known for excellent keyboards, amongst the best in the business. Of all the ThinkPads I own and deploy in my company we have not experienced this condition described in the various posts here. Ours are all very solid, stable and without any type of flex or sagging etc.
Perhaps it's time to have the ThinkPad service center look at this, as the warranty is excellent and if there is a problem they will resolve it.
