Flex of the black thing with the power/volume buttons?

I assume this is normal but when i push one of the buttons, it goes in noticeably. Is this common on X60s's?

The counterpart on my X40 can flex a little bit only if I pressed those buttons very strongly.

How is the overall sturdiness of the X60s? I am just wondering whether in Lenovo's effort to put more features into the X60s than the X4x series (e.g. one more USB port, 2.5" HDD, etc.) while reducing the weight, they compromised the build of the system.
