I using a X60 model which didn't have fingerprint reader, can I replace the palmrest with fingerprint reader which listed in the HMM?

What price did it cost?

While I'm not sure regarding the answer to your question I have some thoughts to share.

I have had experience with a few ThinkPads that were equipped with fingerprint readers. I have found (as others have) that the readers are somewhat unreliable in actually recognizing your finger as you swipe it across the reader. In some cases this is so problematic that you cannot even complete the intial setup. Other times once setup, the problem occurs at random intervals. There are many influencing factors here. Skin dryness or being oily. The fingerprint pattern itself, etc.

I found it so frustrating that I made sure that my new 60 series models did not have the fingerprint reader. I'm not alone here as I have a company with many ThinkPads deployed and our experience is that they do indeed work for some of the users but certainly not the majority.

Finally, I would encourage you to do a search here on this forum for more feedback regarding this topic. And then ask yourself, is it really that important ?

Hey Ricky, I am from HONG KONG, too.

For my experience, you can call the local IBM parts dept. to order the components (In HK, their number is 28891258).

Based on your case, you may need to order several parts,

Keyboard bezel with fingerprint - 39T7305
Fingerprint FPC - 91P6977
Fingerprint card - 41W1094

cfr. "http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 62906.html"

BTW, I am wondering you may need to order the driver/software as well.
