X60s won't undock!! "System" image name pegs CPU

Ok - for months now my X60s has worked flawlessly. Docking, undocking.. no problem.
Recently, I installed VMWare and started having problems undocking so I removed the utilities. I also went ahead and ran an update on all the Thinkpad utlities (BIOS, etc).
Now, when I push the button on the side of the dock, it never turns to the green triangle even though the USB devices are "disconnected". When I just go ahead and just yank it off the dock anyway, I go into task manager and it shows one of the CPU's is pegged and an Image Name of "System" is pegging it.
Needless to say, I can't put the system in standby after this point and it won't even shut down. It gets to the blue screen after closing connections, etc.. and just hangs. To restart the machine I have to push and hold the power button to force it off.
Can anyone help me?
