Great news!

Anyone have any idea/info if the new T.P. x60(s) will be pre-loaded
with Vista?

If they will have an Express card slot?

And if they will increase the resolution?

Thanks.!

I read that the X60 will get the upgrade. The X60s is not mentioned.
To my knowledge the LV version of C2D is not out yet.

They won't be pre loaded with Vista since it won't be released until January. I think I read that if you purchase a PC after Oct 26th you will get a coupon for a Vista upgrade but I'm not positive of this.

Why would you want Vista on the x60s? that would sap batter life down to like 3.5 hours tops.

Check out CNET and search for Vista and battery life. They have documented how much of a battery-burner the OS is.

I prefer to stay with Windows XP.

RC2 tests indicate a battery life drop on the order of 25-30% when running Aero. Not nice, but not the end of the world.

I would like to see a real back-to-back comparison with an X60 or X60s, though, running NHC in both configurations. It may or may not be as bad as the numbers indicate.

The X60 can now be ordered with C2D. 8-10 days delivery.
Model 1709H6U, costs the same $2400 as my model 170997U.
You now get 120gb drive instead of 100gb.
Same short 1-year warranty (but can upgrade).

Disappointed that the C2D machine ships with intel 3945 instead of atheros
They better fix those lost connection problems.

Also new on Lenovo site....

The X60s with L2500 and the X60 with T2500
(they want $3549 for that X60 ? ouch!!)

1. Win XP Pro Business edition is shipping from Manufacturers at beginning of December.
2. You can get Atheros wireless card, in fact I'd suggest getting the a/b/g/n (note added n) card which is only Atheros.
3. While plugged in you can run Aero which takes more power (but less so on built-in graphics processor of X60) but turn it off to conserve power if need be when running on battery.

Regarding running Vista over XP on laptops read:

Vista itself is not the issue -- tests posted by others in this forum show relatively small differences relative to XP as long as you are not running Aero. I personally don't expect to be still running XP 2-3 years from now, it's only a question of when to make the switch, not if.
