Clear Embedded Security chip master password

#1 Post by pdudas » Sat Oct 21, 2006 10:25 am

Hi!

I bought a used X60 and I know the master password of the embedded security chip

Do you have any idea how can I change the password to the one I want?

(the Client security only ask for this password, I did not found an option to clear/change it).

Don't you have to initiate the reset process in the BIOS? Or am I thinking of something else?

Before the clearing of security chip I uninstalled the Client Security Solution.
Then I cleared the security chip and enabled it.
Reinstalled the CSS and asked a reboot.

I get 191 error, so I have to disable the security chip and clear it again.

Now it's working, but I had a bad feeling about this 191 error....
