After windows XP starts up and desktop shows, my X60s always flashes as a black screen one time. After that, the LCD works perfect. Does everybody have the same thing? Is it sth. I should concern? Thanks.

Check your LCD inverter. I have got no problem on my X60.

When you say flashes, what do you mean?
It's normal for an LCD backlight to go on and off when the signal changes resolution, if the BIOS is booting in 640*480 then changing to a higher resolution when windows loads it's not abnormal for it to go off and on real quick.

I think that's the intel graphics software that causes that brief flicker. If you disable all the Intel Graphics services and startup items, that will return it to normal.

On my computer I think it's Presentation Director that causes this as it adjusts to the setting it was on when it shut down--I switch between an external monitor at home and the LCD elsewhere. As far as I know, the only way to prevent it is to keep your eyes closed during startup.

I don't know about XP, but in Windows 98 the Active Desktop option causes the screen to momentarily flash the background color just after startup. You might have inadvertently turned this on while changing the way you click on an item (single-click to open, point to select vs. traditional Windows double-clicking). In Win98 it's on the Web tab of Display Properties, but in XP it's different -- Customize Desktop (or something like that). Anybody know what I'm talking about and can help?
On the other hand, if that is the only symptom and it only happens just after startup, I would just ignore it.

Active desktop is disabled by default in XP SP2 and you have to work pretty hard to restore it (a registry edit, I think).

Registry edit? I thought all you have to do is go to Display -> "Desktop" tab -> "Customize Desktop" button -> "Web" tab.

My X60 has done the exact same thing from the day I took it out of the box. I have not changed any settings with the display or resolution. I assume that if it was doing that when I got the computer then it's okay.
