Bluetooth Blackberry Connection

Has any one been able to successfully connect their blackberry (model should matter assuming it has bluetooth support) to their X60s?

I am able to connect my bb to my desktop, but for some reason, the X60s bluetooth is not being recognized by the RIM Desktop Manager as "bluetooth enabled", ie: the "Enable Bluetooth Support" checkbox on the Desktop Manager is completly greyed out.

I have connected other computers to the X60s, along with my bluetooth headset, but for some reason, the BB is only thing I cannot connect (have made sure I have the latest bluetooth driver already).

Wonder if it is looking for a specific bluetooth supported service or something.

Anywho, thought I'd would throw it out there and see if any has been able to accomlish this...

Cheers,
Greg

It's not an issue with the driver. Your BlackBerry doesn't support the profile needed to make the connection. I have a BlackBerry 7290 and a X60s, and I'm in the same boat. I can connect them for cellular data via USB, but not via Bluetooth.

Not sure I understand, since the same blackberry (actually, the new Pearl) can cannot to my desktop via bluetooth for Desktop Manager Synchronization.

Figured since it can do it with 1 workstatation, and not with the X60s, (same BB), that the X60s is the variable.

I've run into the problem where one Bluetooth device won't recognize another Bluetooth device if the two devices don't have any profiles in common. I wonder if that's what's going on.

In what way are you able to use the Pearl with the workstation?

BB Desktop manager recognizes the workstation's bluetooth, and offers it as an option for synchronization.

Same Desktop manager on the x60s does not appear to recognize the bluetooth, and thus does not offer it as an option for synch.

Take the actual BB out of the picture, the problem starts at the Desktop Manager I believe.

Maybe it's a X60 Bluetooth driver or configuration issue. I can't get my X60s to recognize a Pharos GPS device through Bluetooth, though it will recognize it through a direct USB connection. If I take that same GPS device and try to use it via Bluetooth with my desktop computer, it works fine (not that I need GPS on a stationary desktop -- just testing). On the X60s, Windows discovers the GPS device and acknowledges the profile. Yet none of the GPS applications seem to know it's there.

Yep, exact same symptoms :-)

Something about the x60s bluetooth that isn't allowing certain functionality to certain devices. Same on my end: ie: it can discover/connect, but that's about it. So, connection appears fine, but the use of "apps" that use that bluetooth don't seem to work (ie: your GPS app, the BB Desktop Manager app).

Mouse is fine, tranferring files to another computer is fine, audio headset via skype is fine, it's just the BB software.

At least maybe we now see a pattern.....

I believe the bluetooth for that model was for a headset only.

That's my understanding, as well. In theory, I should be able to use the X60s' built-in microphone and speaker as a Bluetooth headset with my 7290, though I haven't tried it.
