x60s and external display (DELL 2407WFP)

#1 Post by sergi0 » Wed Nov 08, 2006 7:42 pm

Hi Folks,

I recently bought a x60s. I am very happy with it. I wanted to use my Dell LCD as the main display when I am not traveling.

I try different mode, but I was only able to do:

- extend the display of the x60s to the Dell, with this, I can have the full resolution on the Dell, ie, 1920x1200.
- clone the display of the x60s on the Dell, with this I am limited to 1024x768, the resolution of the x60s.

My question is simple:

Is it possible to use the Dell screen as a main display with max resolution? A,d if yes, How :)

I also have same monitor but I simply use it as an extended deskop.

You should be able to get the extended to work. I got mine on extended + 1650x1050. I don't remember how I got it, but I just fiddled with it. In the beginning it didn't show the widescreen resolutions. I think I may have changed it in the display properties first, then configured the presentation director. good luck with it.

Actually, the OP managed to get extended to work, but failed to set it up as the primary monitor.

Oh, I am able to use mine as external monitor and extended. Once I got one to show up with my resolution as an option the other popped up. I believe I got it through the display properties.

I will try to see if I didn't miss something. Extended the thinkpad-s screen on the Dell 2407wfp at 1920*1200 is not a problem... having the dell as a primary monitor at 1920*1200 is another one:)

i found my way.... I now have a full 1920*1200 main display. the problem was that I wanted both a x60s lcd 1024*768 and the dell 1920*1200 clone display.

I just select the external display and it works:)

You can't do it with the Windows XP desktop properties... you have to use the Intel GMA utility (right click on your desktop and choose "Graphics Properties...").
