I was really looking forward to the X60t release, then got slightly bummed when seeing it doesn't have C2D


As Lenovo is having its thanksgiving sale on X60 now

X60:

-Core 2 Duo T7200 2.00Ghz
-1.5 G Memory
-80 GB (5400rpm)
-X6 Ultrabase + CD-RW/DVD-ROM
-WiFi- a/b/g/n
-Bluetooth + Fingerprint

=$1600

X60 Tablet
-Core Duo L2400 1.66Ghz
-1G Memory
-80G Harddrive (5400rpm)
-Wifi a/b/g
-Bluetooth + Fingerprint

=$1800

Considering the X60 would have faster processor with 64 bit support (+200), bigger memory (+50), better Wi-Fi (+30), X6 Ultrabase (+200), Combo Drive (+50), essentialy X60 Tablet would cost $600 more than the X60 normal verision. X60 non-tablet is also lighter and has better battery life.

I am just wondering if the over $600 difference worths it for the tablet function of X60t ? I used a Panasonic T4 before. while the touchscreen was fun, though not quite up to the hype i think.

Btw, I think the X60 deal is really good actually

In terms of bang for the buck for sheer computing, the X60 certainly beats out the X60T, that's a given. You're certainly paying a premium for a tablet unit. In general tablet laptops are still a niche market, so you need to slide your margins as high on them as you can.

Oh, probably not for you. Others might want to read the other threads on the tablet in this forum for more discussion on why they might want one.

The only thing to consider is that it looks like the T4 has a passive digitizer, while the X60t has an active one*. The tablet experience is somewhat different with an active digitizer (inking works better, the cursor follows the pen when the pen is hovered above the screen, etc.). Watch this inkshow to see some of the differences.


* The indoor/outdoor/multitouch screen has an additional passive digitizer which can be turned off.
