Has anyone taken their WWAN-enabled X60 from Verizon to Cingular by replacing the Mini PCIe card?

Really? Looking at the tabook.pdf it seems the ones with Verizon WWAN lack a SIM slot/port/whatever.

You are correct:
The SIM card slot is an option on the T60/p series but not on the X60/s series. Consequently, the X60/s does not support GSM WWAN cards, i.e., WWAN cards which require a SIM card.

The X60 tablet does offer a few configurations with Cingular WWAN. But at this point I'm guessing the SIM slot is only on those models, not on all WWAN models. From surfing, it seems the HSDPA WWAN does require a SIM card.

SIM (subscriber identity module) cards are required on all GSM-based/evolved systems: GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA and WCDMA/UMTS. Hence Cingular, T-Mobile and Rogers-compatible cards will have SIM slots.

A question for Verizon WWAN users: how much do you pay for your connection? The data costs on Rogers are way too high for any serious use.

Verizon is $60/month w/2yr contract w/voice service. Starbuck's coffee a day and you don't have to search for hotspots or pay for them.

$60/month -- unlimited usage? If it is, it's a very good deal. The only downside would be roaming outside the US.

Yes, unlimited usage except I heard they cut people off if they exceed 5GB per month. Perhaps they cover Canada so roaming may not be a problem.

Canada might be OK -- Bell and Telus run on CDMA, so at least it's technically possible, provided roaming agreements (and costs!) are OK.

But Europe and Asia (where I'd really love to have this kind of capability) are unfortunately out of the question for EV-DO. Need UMTS for that ...

For folks like me with a Verizon Treo 700p already paying for EVDO connectivity it's hard to justify the extra $60/month. However, I find good speeds using the Treo as an EVDO modem with PDANet, although it's less convenient than than the X60s EVDO.
