X60s screen goes black (acutally onl losing the back light)

This has happened 3 times so far and I would like to know if any else here has seen it.
Basically, the screen on X60S goes dark but if I look at the screen very carefully, the screen is there but the backlight is off.
When this happens, the screen looks very dard and I can't read anything. Of course, since there is no back light, I won't be able to see anything at all in a dark room when this happens.
Thought?

Most likely your backlight is dying (unless you see a pink tinge to the display before the light goes off -- that would indicate the inverter).
In either case, though, it's time to pick up the phone and get the screen/inverter replaced under warranty!

Thanks. I can get this serviced but before I send it in, I just need to make sure possbile causes mentioned below (backlight or inverter) can create problems that I am having. My problem is sporadic and it doesnt happen all the time. It happens in the middle of the use. If I reboot, everything ok. Since it is hard to read , I usually plug an ext monitor to reboot safely.
In other words, the problem I am seeing (lack of the back light) is not something that can be caused by the software, correct?
Thanks.

FWIW, earlier BIOS revisions had a bug where the screen backlight would stay off after a system standby.
Maybe you can ensure you have the latest BIOS and see if it makes a difference.
If you have the screen replaced under warranty, you might get one with dead pixels. Lenovo don't guarantee that their screens have no dead pixels, so that's always a risk to consider.

I was wondering if you have resolved your problem,
I have a brand new T60 , last night mine did the
same thing. This is only the 3rd time I have turned it on.
