Random beeping is not random. Press "Shift - RT"

I recall a thread discussing random beeps in the X60s. I get the random beeps, however, I just found out that is not random at all.

While typing any word with letters "RT" in it, while pressing the "Shift" key (i.e., using capital letters), and typing fast, I get the "random" beep.

Also, if you type the word "UY" or "YU" fast while holding the "Shift" key to type capital letters, I get the "random" beep.

I just found this very curious, and forgive the duplicate post if this was already throughly discussed.

Same thing on my T42. Don't worry.

IIRC, to silence the beep go to Device Manager and click on View > Show hidden devices. Go to Non-Plug and Play Drivers and expand. Look for Beep and disable it.

This shift combination is new to me but most three adjacent keys (i.e. WES, ERD, ...) pressed together will cause a beep.

Though annoying, it is quite useful when you have a cat and it clearly enjoys the warm and cushy IBM keyboard...

disabled my beep the same moment I read this post!

Thanks! It was driving me crazy - the beep that is!
