Ordering a new X60 Tablet....what options
i went on the site to order my new tablet and got confused on all the different options for it. I know I need more then the 1.5GB memory, but what else is appropriate and what to pass on? I will need the docking station right for the the DVD. THoughts

Order what you want/need on the tablet. I suggest 2gb total RAM. If you do not want to get the RAM from Lenovo, get it from Crucial and install it yourself, taht is what I did. Just get it with Igb RAM with slot open for the one you will put in.vvrrrmm wrote:i went on the site to order my new tablet and got confused on all the different options for it. As far as the opticlwe drive and X6 dock, I got it but it is expensive. If you have no need, you can get a cheap USB external drive for putting your software in and save a lot of money. I have need for CD access in the field and the X6 dock and burner option made sense for me.

I'd get a cheap external USB 2.0 slim DVD multi-burner. Search the forum or browse through it and you'll see writeups about good ones.
Also, buy your RAM from a place like www.newegg.com and just buy one that has lots of good reviews. I think you want 5300 type RAM, but double check.
If you are spending that kind of money for a laptop, be certain you are getting wireless with 802.11n, the newest standard (a $35 upgrade option, as I recall).

6366AJU is the X60 Tablet with the most "bang" for your $$
You get 3 year warranty, plus the dock, DVD burner, 100GB HD and 2GB's of ram.
The entry level X60 with SXGA+ (not sure if you are looking for this...but I can only comment on what I have been researching!!) is OVER $2K and comes with 1 YEAR standard warranty... by the time you add the Dock, DVD burner, extra memory (even from Crucial or New Egg) a bigger HD and add the 3 year warranty option you are WELL above the $3K mark...and for a LOT less then that you can get the above model with ALL the GOODIES!! PLUS the 8-Cell as opposed to the 6 Cell battery as well.....

I guess you meant 8-cell vs 4-cell?draco2527 wrote:PLUS the 8-Cell as opposed to the 6 Cell battery as well.....
Just in case the OP doesn't already know, the X60 tablet is the heaviest X-series Thinkpad ever and even with the 4-cell battery it's 3.77 lbs, and with the 8-cell battery it's 4.23 lbs. If this thing is going to sit on a desk/lap most of the time, 4.23 lbs is okay but if the OP is going to hold it with one arm while taking notes, then I strongly recommend getting the 4-cell battery.

If I wasn't getting the SXGA+ that's what I would get. The MT/MV screen is not as bright as plain XGA (150nits vs 180nits) but the indoor/outdoor ability would be worth it, IMO. Indoor one could attach it to a monitor if a brighter screen and/or more pixels are needed.vvrrrmm wrote:Thanks All. What is the general thinking on getting the multitouch/multiview screen?
Plus, X60 Tablets with the MT/MV screen are actually shipping.
