SD card reader blind

I cannot get my X60s to recognize any SD card i put in. The green light does some blinking when a card is inserted, then goes black again. No additional volume is displayed in My Computer, nothing happens in device manager.

no problems were noted
also with 64 MB miniSD (with adapter) from my mobile

Just had the same problem with a 16Mb card that came with a Canon camera. Not recognised, no activity.

Then I tried a 1Gb card I'd bought separately and that one works fine.

No idea why!

Perhaps the following is the problem?

I found the solution. I had my network drive mapped to D: . When I changed drive letter for volume D: the SD card appeared in My Computer. Very strange behavior indeed.

I have C through H mapped and the SD card that worked showed up at I.

Just tried both of my SD cards under Linux and they both work fine.

Went back into Windows and the 16mb card again fails to show up.

Perhaps it is in a format that Windows can not see? I have an USB wrist band drive . My Win PC can see the files that I put onto it from the Win PC. My eComStation PC can see the files that I put on it from my eCS PC. The strange part is that eCS does not see the Win installed files and Win does not see the eCS installed files.

I still have not figured it out. It is a 256 meg drive (IIRC).

Hadn't thought of that. But it's just a standard vfat filesystem. Not a big deal though; can't do much with a 16mb card

Someone told me the SD reader is likely not a SDIO since it doesn't work with his SDIO cards. Is this true?

SDIO uses the same interface, but you will need a specific driver for whatever card you are using. What type of SDIO card do you have?

I had the same problem recently. SD card coming from a Canon digital camera. Note recognized at first. The machine eventually saw it after a reboot... -_-"
