HDTV resolutions available on X60s?
Hi everyone, has anyone successfully managed to connect a x60/x60s to a HDTV LCD panel? Running resolutions of 1280x720 or 1366 x 768 or 1920x1080?
I've read the threads about high res monitors, the new bios etc.
After installing the new BIOS and updating presentation director, more resolutions appear, but no common TV ones.
Happy new year.

My X60s can output 1280x720 and 1920x1080 to my 24" LCD monitor (Dell 2407WFP).

Presentation Director only makes certain resolutions available, even if Windows can display other resolutions. The only way to make Presentation Director display those resolutions is to manually edit the registry. If you want to do this...david25 wrote: Hi, can you tell me how/where you selected the resolutions, via presentation director or control panel?
Go to Fn-F7 => "manage schemes" => "new"
Set up a presentation manager setting for your external display and choose any resolution for the external monitor. Give it some wild name you'll remember. Don't run the test, just save the profile.
Now go to regedit.
Go to the following location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IBM\NPdirect\Data\Common\Presentation Schemes\{THE NAME OF YOUR PROFILE WILL BE HERE}\01
Go to the key named "Resolution"
for 1280 X 720 put in:
hex: 02D00500
for 1366 X 768 put in:
hex: 03000556
for 1920 X 1080 put in:
hex: 04380780
Close the registry editor
Fn-F7 => "manage schemes" => "edit"
Go to the scheme, select the "display" tab, and select the appropriate resolution for your monitor if it isn't already selected.
I think you should be able to apply the scheme now.
I'm not sure these resolutions will actually work, so let us know what happens.

The Dell can support many different resolutions lower than 1920x1200.sxr71 wrote:The Dell's native resolution is 1920x1200, does it do that? I know that's not an HD resolution though.pianowizard wrote:My X60s can output 1280x720 and 1920x1080 to my 24" LCD monitor (Dell 2407WFP).

I used the X60s's VGA output. The Dell can support both DVI and VGA.dclee012 wrote:Is the output to the Dell via DVI or VGA?

here is a picture of an x60 docked in the ultrabase port:

i don't have one yet, but it looks like there's no dvi.
i am hesitant to hook up a TFT via vga... i've used DVI connections for too long. i'm quite sure i'll be bothered by the downgrade.

1920x1200 for X60
Hi, where did you get those hex codes for the resolution, and do you have the one for 1920x1200? Re: 1920x1200 for X60
I think I googled my hex resolution setting and figured it out. The first four hex characters are resolution 2 (Y) and the last four hex characters are resolution 1 (X).lindycogito wrote:

So...
1920 = 0780
1200 = 04B0
Setting = 04B00780

Simple enough, thanks! It works like a charm on my X60 tablet!smvp6459 wrote:

Picture quality of X60 VGA output on 1920x1200
Well, good enough for me it seems... Now that you ask me and that I look carefully, the text is indeed a bit blurry. I walked in the cubicle next to me to compare with a colleague who has a PowerBook with a DVI output with the same screen size and resolution, and his image seems a bit crisper, but the difference doesn't seem drastic to my eye (but I don't have good eyes; -11 dioptries! ;o).jamess wrote:What's the picture like, considering analog VGA output onto huge 1920px monitor?

Re: HDTV resolutions available on X60s?
well, some TVs support 1920*1080 via HDMI or DVI, but no such high resolution support via vga port.
As x6x series can not output dvi or hdmi, if you do want a high resolution output, it seems the only way is to change tv or pc
