Hard Drive upgrade: No hibernate afterwards

Hi Everyone!

I used "Acronis True Image" to clone my 40 GB hard drive onto a 100 GB hard drive. Hibernation is enabled, but will not work. It goes to the "preparing to hibernate" screen, but I get a "STATUS_DEVICE_ERROR" message after it fails to shut down. I do have 1.5 GB of RAM, but it hibernates just fine with the original hard drive. I kept both partitions, service and regular. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this???

X60s
WinXP
1.5GB Ram
100 GB hard drive: Won't hibernate
Original 40 GB Hard drive: will hibernate
All programs & drivers identical on both hard drives.

Thanks tons for your help!

Have you tried disabling and re-enabling hibernation?

Hi Smvp!

Thanks for the idea, unfortunately it was a no go. I did finally cure the problem by going into the BIOS. I changed the SATA parameter from "AHCI" to Compatibility"; it now hibernates fine. (Before that, I upgraded the Intel driver to the latest one, still no fix.) I'm not sure what, if anything, I've lost by switching the BIOS. I've read a few of the threads on the AHCI mode and there doesnt really seem to be a consensus...
