Summary of changes

Version 7BETC5WW (2.06)

(New) Support of Microsoft Windows Vista. (BIOS)

(New) Support of Intel(R) Virtulization Technology. A new Intel(R) Virtulization Technology option is added to CPU of the Config menu in BIOS Setup Utility. Config->CPU->Intel(R) Virtulization Technology. The Intel(R) Virtulization Technology option is always set to
"disabled" after the BIOS was updated or flashed. The option needs to be set to "enabled" if necessary after BIOS update/flash. (BIOS)

(Fix) POST error 1804 may appear at system power on with some types of USB devices. (BIOS)

(Fix) When EMM386.EXE is used at system boot from PC-DOS on a USB memory key, the system may hang or the wrong data may be accessed on the hard drive while reading or writing. (BIOS)

Mine seems to be burning through the battery faster compared with my previous bios (1.04). I also had to reinstall Lenovo's audio driver for Vista.

I just installed Version 7BETC5WW (2.06). As I'm using Linux/Kubuntu as my operating system I downloaded the ISO. The update went without problems.
Still the loud and long beep in between was very scary (as it made me almost assume that the application had crashed). The message "Still one more minute to update" didn't help with regard to this either as it made me assume that maybe something unexpected had gone wrong.
Fortunately I stayed patient and after a reboot (well, actually the BIOS screen appeared three times before booting from harddisk) everything worked fine and the new version number as well as the desired feature (Support of Intel(R) Virtualization Technology) appeared in the BIOS settings. Thanks IBM/Lenovo for adding this

what is that "Intel Virtualization"
used for???

I think it's hardware virtualization technology, which is described here:

This website also has a little program that will check to see if it's been enabled on your machine.

Once you've updated your BIOS, you need to set virtualization to "enabled" under the CPU setting options. After saving your BIOS settings, you need to power off the computer and restart it before the virtualization setting will take.

how can I enter the CPU options ?

I upgraded from 1.04, and Vista suddenly became horrifically unstable. (BSOD's every other day, lock ups, the whole schabang). Flashed back to 1.04, and I'm fine.

Recently I've found the only way to keep the thinkpad from burning through battery after a resume is to resume from hibernation with the hardware wireless switch off. This trick works with newer BIOS's. Really annoying, I wish they would fix this kind of stuff.

i saw a new bios with X60 v.2.07
