I've been needing to pick up a X60s for a few months now. The current pricing seems to be fairly steady (Since Oct 06), which leads me to think there may be a drop soon... but then I know the prices are fairly static... does anyone have any insight?

Actually there is a way to get really good prices. Hunt on ebay for a used machine with IBM warranty (and not Mack or other warranty) for 2.5 or so years which I think you can even extend if yoiu want. Just be certain the unit has no stuck or dead pixels. I sold one recently for about $1100 with the built-in Verizon WWAN (170963U).

I have never understood the fixation with stuck or dead pixels.

The T43 that I've recently bought, new, has an obvious dead/stuck pixel off to the right. It is the only flaw or problem with this laptop. I notice it from time to time but it is no big deal. Compared to the other problems that people report with this and other Thinkpads, this pales in comparison.

A bad screen is a bad screen, but one dead or stuck pixel? I think, that compared to many problems one might have with a new or slightly used laptop, a single or a few dead pixels, especially if acknowledged by the seller, is/are no big deal.

Same here. I think in many cases, it depends on how many computers one has owned. I have had 50 computers and seen a wide range of problems, so dead pixels seem like nothing to me. It reminds me of the first music CD that I bought back in 1989. I found a tiny scratch on it and was soooooo devastated. Now, I own close to 6,000 CDs and don't care about major scratches or even occasional skips any more.

Dead pixels can be very annoying or not at all. A lot depends on the pixel size (monitor size vs resolution). A black dead pixel in a corner on a 14" SXGA+ monitor - you would never notice it, unless you look for it. A white/orange stuck pixel in the middle of a 19" SXGA monitor - I'd rather not have one such.
