On my X40, I could turn off display using Fn-F3.
The X60s no longer has that hardcoded function. Dimming the brightness to minimum level still leaves the display and backlight on.
Is there a way to turn off the display while leaving the computer on (i.e. not putting it into standby)?

There are a variety of situations where this is useful:
1. Going to sleep myself (don't want any light from display to keep me awake) but wanting downloads to continue
2. Trying to extend battery at cafe and not using computer for a few minutes but want instant access when I need computer again (too slow to wake and reattach to wifi access point).

Fn + F3. Choose "Fn + F3 Settings" Turn Off Display is a choice. It should work, but I never used it before.

Nope, Fn-F3 on the X60s has been replaced with standby and turn off display is no longer available as a hotkey. Is there any other way of accessing it?

Best thing to do when you want to know if there is a certain feature available is to download the Hardware Maintenance Manual. Most of the features of the system are described within, plus there's a lot of information about the various parts in the laptop and instructions on how to remove/replace them. Looking through the descriptions on pages 41 and 42 seems to say that the old Fn+F3 does not turn off the display (like it does on my T23). However, Fn+F7 should still work for you if all you want is to be able to turn the backlight off while still allowing the system to operate.

Fn + F3 can be set to turn off display or show power scheme menu here.

Yes, that works--Fn-F3...then click on Fn-F3 settings and select "turn off display" as default option. Thanks!
